I doubt he actually gives a shit whether Cruz is eligible or not.  I don't.

It's a political maneuver.  I swear, some people just have no idea how political campaigning works.  It's a dirty, dirty business.

Fellas.

We have to make a truce on this.  Today driving home, I was behind a car with a Bernie sticker, and in the adjacent lane was a car with a Jeb! sticker.   Yes someone out there actually likes Jeb Bush and is willing to display it.  And I just read, the best GOP candidate in history, Jim Gilmore, is dropping out.

We're fucked.

Trump is a cynical salesman.  And the sad thing is, several of the Trump supporters in this very thread have said as much.

He isn't a fruitcake.   He just knows how to appeal to people's baser instincts.

Far easier to get someone to hate than to get them to think.

There is a similarity between Trump's campaign and Obama's 2008 campaign.  If Trump is as effective as Obama has been in enacting his agenda, I will be very, very happy indeed.

I do believe that the Constitution grants the states the power to regulate elections.  That would include ruling who is eligible.  Although I'm less of a Constitutional scholar than FBHO, I seem to recall that tidbit... Let me dig out my copy and see if I can find it.

Add this into the whole Megyn Kelly situation and you can clearly see that this man has very thin skin, is as petulant as a three year old child, and will say or do anything to get elected. Literally textbook narcissism and megalomania.

You are a liar, The DOS has NO say in this at all. The constitution states that the STATES determine eligibility to be on the ballot. Recent court rulings affirm this.

And you Dexter, are "immune",  above the COC,  and obviously "special."

What the Department of State manual says,  is that whether or not an individual born abroad to parents that are American Citizens is "a natural born citizen" for the purposes of being eligible to serve as President of The United States, is a matter that has never been settled by the courts.

That's what it says; your despicable nature notwithstanding.

According to The United States Department of State:

7 FAM 1131.6 Nature of Citizenship Acquired by Birth Abroad to U.S. Citizen Parents
7 FAM 1131.6-1 Status Generally
(TL:CON-68; 04-01-1998)

Persons born abroad who acquire U.S. citizenship at birth by statute generally have the same rights and are subject to the same obligations as citizens born in the United States who acquire citizenship pursuant to the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. One exception is that they may be subject to citizenship retention requirements.

7 FAM 1131.6-2 Eligibility for Presidency
(TL:CON-68; 04-01-1998)

a. It has never been determined definitively by a court whether a person who acquired U.S. citizenship by birth abroad to U.S. citizens is a natural-born citizen within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution and, therefore, eligible for the Presidency.

b. Section 1, Article II, of the Constitution states, in relevant part that No Person except a natural born Citizen...shall be eligible for the Office of President.

c. The Constitution does not define "natural born". The Act to establish an Uniform Rule of Naturalization, enacted March 26, 1790, (1 Stat. 103,104) provided that, ...the children of citizens of the United States, that may be born ... out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born citizens: Provided that the right of citizenship shall not descend to persons whose fathers have never been resident in the United States.

d. This statute is no longer operative, however, and its formula is not included in modern nationality statutes. In any event, the fact that someone is a natural born citizen pursuant to a statute does not necessarily imply that he or she is such a citizen for Constitutional purposes.

I remember long ago, sitting in a diner after a City Council meeting, with just about all of the players there, scattered around having lunch.

My client was pissed at the City Manager, who was pretty inept.

He starts talking to the others at our table, but loud enough to drift across several tables, so many could hear him, about the rumor that the City Manager was going to be fired.

Afterwards I said to him, "Earl, I haven't heard any rumors like that."  He said, "Well, you will now."

Damned if the City Manager wasn't fired about three months later.  I learned a lesson that day.

I remember long ago, sitting in a diner after a City Council meeting, with just about all of the players there, scattered around having lunch.

That is exactly how I feel about Trump's positions that he recently acquired....just saying what is needed to get the position he desires...

Reading his book, The America We Deserve, you wonder if Donald would make deals with Sanders:
I would impose a one-time, 14.25 percent tax on individuals and trusts with a net worth over $ 10 million.

I'm just here to see if America-First will respond to him being an epic flip flopper when it comes to the Don. Really makes me question what his motivation could be...

Reminiscent of Huey Long.

While I personally would love to see the arguments and read the opinion of the court, Trump has no desire of actually pursuing this in court.  It's just a political maneuver.

So, you're now saying Trump is "playing politics" but I thought you and others have made such a big deal of him not being such? So, which is it? I personally want Trump to file suit, let's get it on. This will hurt Trump with conservative voters but I think everyone knows now Trump isn't conservative.

Looks like a negotiation to me.

We'll see how the Canadian pussy responds.

How 'bout, "see you in court." As I said, time to get it on.

Of course, his loss would be yuuuuuuuge. Problem with bluffing is someone may see through your BS and call you.

He needs to know that if Cruz is his VP that he can be President if something happens.  This really does need to be settled for sure before the election if Cruz is on the ticket for VP or for Pres so I have no problem with it.

Maybe.  Maybe not.  In any event, the risk to both parties is large enough to prevent it from happening.
