He may yet win the nomination, but he could make it a lot easier on himself if he would just filter himself occasionally during the election process.

All politicians are begging for our approval, or lying their asses off, to secure our support for a position that, truth be told, is a shit job. Most sensible people would not want the gig. We should not need 'leaders' in authority over us, only servants to clean the toilets. To the extent that we are incapable of leading ourselves, it is in large part due to the very mindset that these flawed, vain, self-serving men are our leaders in the first place. It has been a terrible mistake to allow them to paint the picture that they are of some elevated status. Their chief skill is getting elected. They are no more moral and wise than any of us, and by their very nature, usually less so. They are not 'leaders'. They are largely con men and manipulators, each and every one disposable. We ought be flushing them regularly, on the general principle that power corrupts. Let them behave coarsely. I should much prefer to hear Cruz respond with, "I may be a pussy, but you're the bitch who won't go 1 on 1 in a debate!" than the likely mealy mouthed response he will have. What will it be? "I won't dignify it with a response?" "I'm offended by the sexist nature of that insult?" Once you admit it's a dogfight rather than some high-minded, noble undertaking, with the contenders fighting for the scraps they can get, it's more clear: the winning dog will need to have a taste for blood and battle. I hope my dog bites back, and hard. |
