Can't buy it? Don't give a fuck. Well then I hope to never see you post in a discussion about military planes, hardware, etc. . If you don't care, why take the time to post ? |

Pretty cool.
Im sure we will be able to get it at some point. Let me know when they have something like this with thermal integration. |

Please put that in the first sentence next time. Be realistic. Did you seriously expect it to not to be MIL/LEO restricted Why is it in GD and why is it restricted? Also makes me wish I had 4 eyes. |

They mention these in "no easy day" and that they are about $65,000

There's a pic of them in No Easy Day.
I don't get the "we can't get them" or complaining about the cost.Eventually, equal or better will be available from Cheaper Than Dirt, its just kinda how things work. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

I find this hilarious. Obama/Clinton & US Defense contractors sell out missile, drone, stealth, and sub technologies to the the Chinese and Russians and some night vision company is restricting tech to bubbas. That is rich! |

This thread is extremely easy to masturbate to.
I came three times just while posting this. |

very cool and pricy I have read $60,000-$80,0000 per unit
thanks for the great pics and write up. |

I'm normally more of a reader than a poster but wanted to chime in on this.
For all of you clamoring about "LEO/Mil Only", two things... 1) Relax, there doesn't really appear to be anything in this that is not already available on the market or inherently restricted so, if you can even afford one of these, just give it a little time. I'm sure they will eventually be available to civis if you want to take out a 2nd mortgage on your home. 2) I can just about guarantee the restriction isn't something that TNVC/Vic decreed, it is something coming from L3 so if you've got a gripe about the restriction take it up with them. I don't think anyone has done more to get NV into the hands of us unwashed masses than Vic and the crew at TNVC. Whether it has been spurring laser manufacturers to develop Class 1 devices or, TNVC developing their own very cost competitive PVS-14 and WASP clip-on which is in the works and should be equal to (or better than) other clip-ons currently out there all the while being nearly just about half the price. Now, a question for Vic on these... I saw you mention how the diopter focus works but I didn't see anything about objective focus. From looking at it, I'm guessing that each one of the 4 tubes must have the objective focused independently? If so that would mean this is probably not suited well to rapid close up use (unless they had 4 of your RFRs on there! ), right? Just how complex is it to get the objective focused on all 4 tubes? Is it a time consuming ordeal to make sure they are all spot on and what is the effect of one or more of them not being in focus with the others? Thanks for the write up and insider info on these Vic! |

For your 2nd question, yes independently and easily focused but I will defer to Clasky who actually wrote this particular review, to give you further details not to steal his thunder. Here should be here shortly. Vic |

You don't really want this shit being shipped freely overseas, folks.
Let the goddamn chicoms come up with their own systems. I'd love to have a set...but truth be told, if I had a spare 50 grand I'd probably just buy more guns since I don't have the need to fast rope into terrorist compounds and kill bad guys. |

With how bulky these tube based systems are Im wondering when we are going to see more of a drive towards CCD/CMOS based "blind helmet" style systems.
There are already microvolt laser projection display devices capable of a full color output which can get around the display issue, it seems to be more of a sensors and imagary fusion processing problem. |

CCD/CMOS technology just can't touch intensifier tubes right now without some sort of IR illumination. They are kind of like Gen 1 intensifiers right now. And until CCD/CMOS sensors catch up performance wise we won't see that technology supplant tubes. Doesn't mean I'm not thinking these same thoughts though and drooling about owning night vision sunglasses one day! |

Thanks for the write up and insider info on these Vic! Thanks. These goggles are awesome and I'm glad we were able to show them to you. Your question about focus is spot on: you have four independently focused tube housings at the objective. Close focus is done on the fly as your situation develops. While the baseline focus is good for most situations, CQB will call for slightly closer focus. So, you would adjust your focus to a certain distance that would be most beneficial for your expected engagement distance. If the situation calls for you to change focus, then you do it on the fly. A dynamic situation will dictate how much time you have to change the focus, but you can normally achieve something pretty good that "will do" with a quick turn of the objective. If you are not getting shot at, you can do a better job making it perfect. |
