They just hit $15 million today. New ship class: Escort Carrier I am imagining a ship between the size of a connie and idris that can carry 3 snub fighters with 2 dorsal turrets. Are you high? Traditionally an escort carrier is a full fledged aircraft carrier. They are smaller but they are not small. That's like saying you expect a large capacity container ship/freighter to be the size of a fighter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Escort_carrier |

The Idris can carry 2 (or is it 3) snubs, and it's a corvette. That's smaller than a Destroyer in modern naval terms. An escort carrier should be able to carry a dozen or two fighters imho. |

I could see "escort carrier" being a non-frontline support ship: Designed to refuel, bio-break, rearm, etc, 5-10 single seat fighters on long-range expeditions, but very limited weaponry for self defense and no offensive weaponry.

I've been thinking about what if this game plays like EVE? Anyone know how many ships will be able to engage in one fight?

View Quote 50 v 50 has been stated. getting 50 people online and organized is a pretty tough challenge. So I do not think it will be much of an issue with the current setup. For instance go play mount and blade warband with 50 people on each side and it is pure chaos on the battlefield. |

Been looking to get in on the crowdfunding for this since early this year, but still havent gotten around to in.

There are a few other small goodies, more just tokens of appreciation, that later backers may not get vs earlier backers like a repair robot (free repairs for your ships at that one hangar), a laser pistol for boarding action, a unique space suit skin, etc. Kharn |

You can't get Life-Time Insurance (LTI) anymore by yourself, but a veteran backer can gift an LTI ship to you if you find a willing one. The normal way it works is you gift a veteran/original backer the package you want (but cannot get LTI for), and in 24-48 hours (it takes 24 hours to process a melt-down) they gift back the equivalent LTI package. Basically, LTI means you do not pay ship hull insurance, the exact cost of that is unknown but is expected to be significantly cheaper than EvE (where its 30% the purchase cost for 100% hull replacement for the next 90 days), cargo and fitting insurance are not included in LTI and will need to be purchased separately. But I claim naming rights on the first system we discover. The Bacon System or simply 'Murica' |

If you look in "My Hangar", you can now see which level hangar has been assigned to your ships. Here are mine:
Discount: Aurora, Aurora LX, 315p, 325a, 350r Business: Freelancer, Hornet Deluxe: Constellation No hangar listed for: Starfarer, M50, Avenger, Gladiator If you have different levels of hangars, you default to the highest received.
|
|
I believe they said already that most of the ships introduced during the livestream event won't be in the hanger module debut, so it makes sense that they wouldn't be listed. I still haven't seen concept sketches for the Retaliator or Gladiator, and the avenger, m50 and starfarer are still just test renders.

I'm kinda disappointed that the 300i isn't a business hanger given how its kinda a luxury ship in the star citizen universe.

I am now the proud owner of a Aurora and Constellation. Now I just have to name them.

Random question here.... does anyone know what the actual game credits will be worth? I'm looking at the $275 admiral package that comes with the constellation and 10,000 credits and a bunch of other stuff since I havent actually purchased the game yet. Is it worth it to buy a package like this because of the credits, or should I buy a cheap package that comes with the game and a ship and then buy the constellation separately?
|
|
I don't think anyone really knows yet. Plus the economy is going to be dynamic, so the credits:real money exchange rate will fluctuate.

Looking at the 300 series and trying to show a little discipline and get only one.
Right now, I'm leaning towards the 300P for exploration. Also, does anyone know about ship range and refueling? I can't imagine them having a tanker without a need for one in game. Are we going to need to bring a tanker along for long runs if we have short range ships? |

I am a veteran supporter, but I will hold my judgment until the Alpha and Beta and been played for awhile. I have seen a lot of great idea with lots of money behind them go down the tubes and very few extremely successful games are not bought out by corporations and ruined.
