Quoted: Deal breaker for me. I'll wait until that's resolved. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Quoted: I'm waiting a couple of months. What's the rush? I want to make sure it doesn't screw up my computer. This. One serious issue already found - you are forced to install updates, including driver updates. Nvidia owners already encountered a bad issue if they use two monitors. You see, BOTH Nvidia AND Microsoft have drivers for the Nvidia video card, and Microsoft's driver is not that good. Using Microsoft's driver with a two monitor configuration causes flickering. Nvidia's does not. So you wake up one morning and notice Microsoft has pushed out THEIR driver and installed it. You tell Microsoft to roll back the install. It does - it installs MICROSOFT's earlier version of the driver, NOT Nvidia's, because its only aware of Microsoft drivers. Driver updates used to be optional - BUT NO LONGER. I'd wait awhile. Deal breaker for me. I'll wait until that's resolved. |

I have an old computer that I have ubuntu on. Maybe I'll throw it on there for the hell of it.

Set up on the first of 4 at my office- took about an hour and a half.
Running fine, no compatibility problems so far with various companies systems. Seems fine, no big deal. |

Just put it on my trusty old E5510. Seems to be faster running Edge instead of Firefox.

Another issue to be concerned about with Windows 10, WiFi Sense. This one is potentially dangerous in that it potentially shares your WiFi password with everyone in your contact list. Supposedly it can be disabled.

Looks like they are staggering the rollout for the auto upgrade folks. That's why some have gotten the upgrade and others haven't. |

I have to wait until August 1st, because I'm running 8.1 Enterprise and am a Volume License customer.
I wasn't in a hurry anyway. |

Microsoft "Edge" Browser.... GOOD: ability to save printed files as a .pdf (same as in Google Chrome) BAD: no ad blocking (WTF?) |

Trying to upgrade to Win 10 Pro from a downloaded ISO burned to DVD and the the upgrade is at the "Checking for updates" screen and is dragging for some reason. Been sitting at 15% for while now.

Completed a seamless install of Windows 10 on my main gaming/work machine. No issues during the upgrade, no issues so far after installing.
I don't under stand the NVIDIA thing, I have a GTX970 and dual monitors. When I first installed Windows is was locked to one monitor at low res, but I downloaded GeForce Experience and it righted itself immediately. So far no issues, and all the games I play run flawlessly. (WoW, WoT, WoWs and many steam games.) |

As expected the upgrade wants me to confirm that it will uninstall Windows Media Center because it is not available or supported by Windows 10. Had to click a Confirm button to acknowledge the removal.

Had to click a Confirm button to acknowledge the removal. Good, get rid of that trash. As much as many hated it, I didn't have a problem with it and was using it to view/record from my Silicondust HDHomerun and ATI 650 Pro tuners. The included EPG was nice too. May have to revert back to using BeyondTV if Windows 10 supports it. Or move to another program that has an EPG and will record content. |

Had it for a couple hours now, and find only a few nuisances so far:
- File associations are fooked. Ex.: browser defaults to Edge, jpgs and bmps default to Windows Gallery instead of your installed image editor, etc. Easy enough to change back - "Preview" in Explorer (for images) no longer exists. You have to click on "Send To" and scroll to "Gallery". - That ugly-ass Search box in the taskbar can be banished with a right-click and "Hide". - Don't delete the taskbar (launchbar?) shortcut for Edge is you might want it back ... it's hard to find again. lol. Various little housekeeping things have to be done to get things back like I like them, but nothing big so far. Emphasis on so far. |
|
Just installed and got everything running. Within the first 10 minutes I had to do a hard reset because everything locked up.
Got it up and running again, seems to be running decent but will not open any of my hard drives.... |

Before using operating system copies from this site for install, re-install or recovery on devices with pre-installed operating systems, see your device manufacturer or reseller for the customized drivers and applications specific to your machine. Any drivers or programs that were installed by the device manufacturer or reseller may be removed during installation. View Quote Link I'm between a rock and a hard place. Since the middle of the month I've been having a hard time installing the updates from MS. Keep getting a "Service registration is missing or corrupt" message. Run a fix and it's fixed. It seemed that turning Bitdefender off and running the fix worked for a few updates, but no more. Also get a "Windows update error 0x80070057" message, etc. I was hoping the upgrade would solve this but it has failed to install several times, along with other updates. Oh, one other thing. The LaCie backup drive failed and took with it the last good restore point I had. FML! I'm going to monitor this thread for potential land mines and try to install from the link provided. eta: yesterday I got thru to a MS support gal in about 5 minutes regarding my download problem. Called again today and I'll be getting a call 7:45 pm Thursday. Seems like everything's less that rosy there. |
