Fuck Civil Forfeiture Fuck TWoD If someone is engaged in an illegal activity, and buys something with the money he made illegally, does he deserve to keep it when he is arrested? If cops confiscate money because it has slight traces of drug residue (like most money does) is that also right? I'd like to know a case where this happened How about this one You don't even need residue. |

It's for show. They can't hold up as pursuit vehicles. Are you serious? 650HP/650Ft-Lbs torque, 0-60 in less than 3 seconds, 200+ MPH, 6 puck Brembos, 60-0 in less than 100', 1.2Gs on the skid track. Nothing short of a Ferrari, Lambo or Bugatti can touch it on the highway. City streets are another matter. And it will last forever if you change the oil. My 2001 has 153K on it, and I do "Drive it Like I Stole It" (I didn't). Drive it over a few curbs and report back... Why would anyone do that? If It's a pursuit vehicle, you won't be doing that at all. Yes, because a criminal would never think to drive over a curb. Don't you know thats illegal That's not the purpose of a high speed pursuit vehicle. The purpose is to not lose someone on the highway who happens to have a fairly quick vehicle... If suddenly a curb jumps out in front of them do you really think someone would attempt to drive over it in a corvette? |

Fuck Civil Forfeiture Fuck TWoD If someone is engaged in an illegal activity, and buys something with the money he made illegally, does he deserve to keep it when he is arrested? Yup, he should. If found guilty, I am still against it. It only promotes allowing black markets to flourish so that city politicians get plenty of big pickings. Sorry, I don't care how honest anyone telsl me their bosses are. They shouldn't profit from allowing illegal activity to fester right under their noses. It breeds corruption. The possibility of cities ignoring dealers until they net a good deal of swag outweighs any gain for honest cities. |

Cu -n-shoot Texas PD has all kinds of cool toys.
New Braunsfels is on I35 between San Antone and Austin. Probably to intercept runners/motorcycles. |

I would much rather small towns purchase something like this as opposed to MRAPs, Tanks and other ex-mil equipment.

Would be way cooler if they had the right wheels. Looks really stupid as is.

After looking into this one further, it appears he was boarding a flight and did not declare the currency over 10K(violation). Then he admitted to being a marijuana smoker and his bag smelled like marijuana (not a violation but worth noting). So the way I see it...he did violate the law and is now in the process of getting his money back. I'll give you that it is a decent example of a flaw in the civil forfeiture law but not a groundbreaking issue. He violated the law and is now dealing with the problem. And based on my experience he will likely get his money back. Violation of what? He wasn't going through customs. Good point...I didn't think of that but does it matter? Serious question cause Im not a big airline guy. But I would think that even transporting large sums of currency across the country would need to be declared. I may be wrong though. You are wrong. Google civil forfeiture and read some of the cases. Civil forfeiture is the worst thing to spawn out of the war on drugs. just do the google and see for yourself. EBR666 |
