he really was a great guy. He used to volunteer up at the Hospital in Portland. OHSU.. He would go to the ward with the terminally ill children. Take pictures with him all kinds of things. He was part of this big party for a lot of younger ones. My little sister who was going thru chemo at the time went. I believe it was 1988. My mother still has the picture of my sister sitting on his lap. He really was a down to earth guy.
I even sold him a cell phone a few years later. |

Another wrestler dead from a heart attack. Shocking. View Quote Being a large individual is hard on the heart, regardless of whether a person takes performance enhancing drugs. I'm 6'5" and 240ish, and although most people in my family live into their 90s, I am well aware that my size makes that less likely. How many people my size do you see in their 70s, 80s, or 90s? |

View Quote This is how I knew who Roddy was. I was never a wrestling fan (always thought it was pretty ridiculous), but I really liked that movie, and his trademark "bubblegum" phrase from that movie. RIP. |

My grandpa on my mom's side was about the same size as me. 6-3 or 6-4 and around 250. Lived past 75, Parkinson's ultimately got him. |

He was about 6' before he got old, but barrel-chested like me. Shitty way to go. |

Worked out one morning in the gym by him, the altimate warrior, and those tag-team guys that use to wear the shoulder pad with the spikes on them. Probably 89 - 91?
I was surprised he wasn't bigger and lifting more. Of course he had a show that night. Seemed like a real nice guy. Not conceited at all. RIP |

He was also in "Hell Comes to Frogtown", saw it during the USA Up All Night era.

I am not now, nor have I ever been interested in wrestling, but I knew this guy from They Live. It was a great movie and he was great in it. What a bummer. Now that I'm in my 40's some of the celebs I grew up with are getting old or pegging, and it's kinda depressing.
