Ft. Richardson AK early 80's I ran away from home. I was in 1st grade and the MP's searched the base for me for many hours. I was alway one step ahead of them. At the time it was fun. All fun till the sun went down and I got cold and hungry. Caught a the worst whooping ever from my Pop when the MP's left from bringing me home.

Hmmm..
The only one i find very interesting is: My Great Grandmother fled Europe during World War I, and boarded the RMS Lusitania in Liverpool on the 17th of April 1915. She arrived in New York on April 24th, and on the voyage back to Liverpool the Lusitania was sunk by a German sub. She was on the last voyage before the boat sunk.. pretty cool in my opinion. I wish I could've met her. |

I own five hundred pounds of boxed LaBelle (last brand made in the USA) cut nails. They may be the largest horde of American made cut nails in existence.

I've had a herd of elk pass on either side of me at a distance of about 5 inches. I could have reached out with either hand and touched them. There were several good bulls in the herd. They could smell me, but they could not figure out where I was. I was standing in front of a tree that a game trail went around on both sides.

punctured my skull. Perfect round hole. No hair has ever grown there. |

Males on my fathers side have a genetic mutation that makes us immune to all forms of hepatitis.
This hepatitis immunity is usually only limited to the Hep A virus and is usually not sexually dimorphic. None of the females on my dad side have the immunity and as far as we can tell the mutation goes back as far as my great grandfather. |

I have (currently) four documented ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary war, and one other who was here before the Mayflower arrived. The neighborhood went downhill after that.

I know that the OP said one post, fuck it this is a cool fact anyways!!!!
20AUG1998, I had the awesome privilege of firing Tomahawk missiles on Sudan. The part I find unique is my launcher (I was a MK41 Vertical Launching System-VLS Gunners Mate) popped her cherry that day and I pushed the button for the 7th bird to fly. My LCPO and LPO (My Chief, E-7 and 1st Class Petty Officer, E-6) served on the cruiser USS San Jacinto (CG 56) during the Persian Gulf War I. Coincidentally they took the war's first missile strikes over when the USS Wisconsin (BB-64) had issues with their VLS Launcher. To start the war off, the San Jac was given the firing solutions to start the war and pop the San Jac's cherry at the same time. It was a great honor to have served under them since they made thier own history and makingh that little bit of history with them. |

My grandfather's brother had a gun collection that was valued at $250,000 in 1963 when he died.
He had an entire attic packed with the best of the best: matchlocks, engraved hand canons, cased Colts, Smiths, flintlocks, Sharps, Henry's, engraved European pistols, etc. My favorite were Napoleon's duelling pistols. |

Somehow, after breaking my leg and being on convalescent leave for a month, my chain of command wants to nominate me for sailor of the quarter.
I just don't think that what I did the 2 months that I wasn't broken will be enough to seal the deal. |
