Slight left ear ring that came about after a sudden ear ache. Something to keep in mind, may people get it in the left ear first from driving with the window down, the wind noise slowly deteriorates your hearing.

Quoted: I have it in both ears, apparently that's funny. I did my damage when I took a friend shooting. We both had our PPE but I didn't put mine in right. Now I'm nearly deaf and I'm irritated. View Quote Sorry to hear that. I spent 20 years around aircraft, working the flightline and as a crew member. Plus shooting and all of the other associated stuff. I wore my hearing pro - double layers in most cases. I'm lucky and still have "normal" hearing for a male of my age... except for the hearing damage that manifests itself in the damn ringing. Loud enough I heard it over the sounds inside a C-130 while flying formation low-level. Engines and props, air conditioning/ pressurization system, intercom and radio chatter, noise from the airstream - all of that and I could still hear the WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Sometimes, you can wear your ear pro, and still get hearing damage. You are correct - in actuality it is not funny. It sucks. Those who don't have it, or only have a mild case, do not understand how bad it can be. But I look at it with a type of gallows humor. Can't get rid of it, can't get it fixed, it's probably never going just up and get "better". So I hate on it in a way that dumps the anger without getting me depressed. I joke about it, and try to educate people on the importance of hearing protection. I hope you can find a method of masking the noise that will make it more bearable. |

I always forget until some asshole brings i up. then it eventually gets forgotten again and goes unnoticed
also, if you read this, you are now breathing manually. and you lost the game |

I always wore earpro when shooting, but never to the punk shows I attended, until about the last year when I started using cotton balls.
My hearing range is above average so I can compensate, but it's always there. |
|
In my left here I have a constant 14kHz ringing with #7 "electric" background noise...
Hearing Test. #7 |
|
I haven't listened to any of those tests. Not sure I want to introduce a new frequency to my slow dive into madness.

I like when it shifts gears from a lower pitch to a higher pitch for a few seconds, and then downshifts to a lower pitch.
Kind of breaks up the monotony. |

If you're relying on those to protect your hearing then you will be hearing EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE sometime in your future. |

if you don't have it you don't want it. It can get really severe and go beyond being just a nuisance. Protect your ears while shooting. If you've got it there are some triggers you may be able to eliminate to minimize the effects. Caffeine Smoking Alcohol Stress Common pain killers like aspirin ibuprofin etc. High blood pressure Managing the coffee and alcohol intake has had a significant effect for me. Jeez, we need to lock this.

Don't worry after a few shots without hearing protection it goes away...

EVER. At work I run a fan in my office even in the winter and also fans at home. Seems to help drown out the eeeeeeeee. Unfortunately, fans don't work too well for me. Before I retired I could hear the ringing on the flight deck of a Herc on formation low-level flights - above the airstream noises, engine and prop noise, equipment hum and cooling fans, air conditioning system, interphone/ radio chatter... My ringing is loud. L.O.U.D. Still searching for a noise generator that will produce the magic frequencies to help mask my noises a bit. |
