Ok I wll post this here, then start a new thread to start fresh with new issues. All the exising issues we have not already fixed are not being ignore, they are still on the list and will be worked on until they are done. No sleep for the wicked.

So without anymore junk talk, let me go over the update for today.

- Forum tools update to 100 results per page.
- EE SearchByState is back to 5 pages of 50 results per page.
- Removed timezone from timestamps.
- Fixed midnight showing up as 0.
- Continues work on cutting down files being transmitted.
- Folders now yellow/gray for all skins. (We made them nicer too.)
- Next and previous page arrows light up in green if they are active.
- Sticky bar fixed for phones (I hope!) and had little arfcom stickers made smaller. (For gunstruction and store.)
- Shaved a lot of pixels from the top of the page and added the TOOLS bar so no longer having to find them in the menu.
- Added tools bar and community bar to bottom of page.
- Made the back to top button smaller to help avoid the next page blocking because some people couldn't scroll past it. If it continues to be an issue, we will remove it.
- Layout changes to tablet and phone view to fit things better. (Moved topic authors under topic post in smaller views to open up space.)
- Fixed the font back to Tahoma and fixed bold as well. (Tahoma was the font used on the previous version of the site. Now you have the same font, background color, and font choices.) This does mean you will probably need to adjust your font size in your profile if you prefer larger fonts.
- Updated the FavIcon back to a transparent background.
- Fixed a bug with the user page which was crashing it out mid load, so you can see feedback for people again.
- Compressed a few images to be smaller and save on downloads.
- Fixed parsing issue with some urls.
- Fix to messenger deleting. We missed something. Sorry.
- Adjusted menus to move archives in with forums and out of the tools bars.
- Moved report button to right side of the post bars and away from quote.
- Moved the reply button ahead of new topic to help with the accidental clicks to subscribe.
- Shrank polls and put them at the top of every page in the thread.

And the mother of all chaotic fixes...
- Fixed EVERY PAGE AUTHOR BOX!!!!!! They will now show join date, post count, and location (if available). The online indicator is now a small graphic next to the user data, inside that box. Feedback is also added next to the data and is shown as a GREEN, GREY, OR RED dollar sign and mousing over will return the number of feedbacks and the % of positive. We also adjusted it so 75% or higher is good feedback, neutral is either none or from 64-61% and anything under 60% is red. Don't screw up deals!

To demonstrate how close we are to the previous post, I took screenshots. The classic view is only 17px taller with the new avatars and the vertical view is 20px taller.




This should help with some of the spacing issues, but we have more items to fix! Hopefully this is a good update for everyone and you'll realize we are here to FIX THINGS until most people are happy. (You can't please everyone!)




Things to consider to make your site viewing better. (From other thread.)

1) Website on a Desktop/Laptop
If you are on a desktop or laptop, your only real issues are using an old browser, for which you should be flogged, and setting up your preferences with the site. First off, if you are still using IE8/9/10/11 please change right now. You are using a 3 year old piece of software which was never any good. I recommend a switch to Firefox or Chrome, but there are other options out there. Before you complain, most browsers will import everything from your old browser, so you dont lose anything. Even after that, you will still have your old browser to cuddle with if you miss it.

Ok so you old IE browser fans are out of the way. So the question now is why is it so hard to make a website that just looks good. Well for starters there are a ton of browser options, versions, add-ons which alter them, and of course appliances you can use. (Tablets, phones, pcs, TVs, etc.) It's like trying to design a website for a lunatic asylum, as you never know what one specific configuration will do and if it will just snap and do it's own thing. So something you experience, may be entirely different from the next person.

So we come to settings and how to make things look good. Again, before we get started, I know there are things we need to tweak, like all the damn dead space and waste. It's something we will continue to work on and adjust as we go and probably will continue to adjust 6 months from now. It's a long term process, but getting is close shouldn't take too long.

Your user profile and preferences are your best friend. In there you can set things like color options (known as skins) which will change the main colors of the site, the folder colors, and more. The idea is that everyone likes a little different flavor and we will continue to add more skin options when we have time. Try out blue, gray, black, camo, or whatever you like. The second thing you will want to do is check the font size you prefer. We did make the default font size larger, which some folks hate. It's ok, not everything works for everyone, which is why we have choices! In your preferences you can choose between 2 larger, or 2 smaller font sizes. Right now they will impact your post body sizes and the thread lists. We can add to more areas as needed, so find the size that you like and start there. Finally there are a few other options such as the forum layout (classic with authors on the left side, or vertical with the author info above posts) and the editor default. (Do you like the classic bbcode stuff or a little more flair?) For those who have strange return key or space bar issues, Try to stick with the bbcode (classic) editor as it's just a standard web text area.

The last thing to check is your BROWSER ZOOM! Browsers have the ability to zoom into pages. You can go to the browsers menu and check if you are zoomed in, or out, and need to adjust it back to normal. Starting at normal with a few tweaks mentioned above, should go a long way to getting things more normal.

Actually, 1 more thing. If you have a small monitor, high zoom, or small browser window, your site will skip using the normal website design and move into a tablet sized design. This is meant to accommodate the site for folks who don't have the room to pack all the forum info into. You can read more about that below. If you want to surf normally on a small resolution, set your browser window large enough for it to kick over and turn down your zoom as well if it's needed. (You'll notice the hamburger in the top left corner of the site when in a smaller views only and a normal menu bar for the large view.)


2) Website for mobile devices
As there are a ton of browsers and desktop options, there are a number of phones out there to deal with, so things will again potentially be different for you versus the next person.

Some of the same things as above apply. Find the best view you like, set your colors and font size in your profile area, and then make adjustments as needed. If you hate the smaller mobile view, you can click on the link for "View Full Site" and you will have the normal website version without limits or adjustments. It will save your preference per device, so for example I use the full view on my tablet, but the mobile view on my phone. Your website preferences however will always be the same, across all platforms. If you end up in this view and want to go back to the mobile version, you need to scroll down to the bottom of every page and look for the link (very bottom right) that says "Mobile Site View".

We need a link to the CoC/ Terms of Service somewhere easily accessible.

Also, mod stuff. The mod forum testing thread has the info you seek about that.

Edit: feature request - Active topics/subscriptions could either return to the previous selectable forums, or areas..or at least make the dropdown box persistent rather than the current

1) click active topics
2) wait for the page to load
3) click the filter for subforum area (general, AR, AK, Handguns, etc)
4) wait for the page to load again
5) get a chance to read relevant topics.

I fixed this as a workaround by having my active topics bookmark lead to the menu selection I use (general)

When we were testing, we were stuck with the goshawful orange skin, with the promise of "more and better" to come along eventually.

That didn't happen until release.




The testing crew had nothing to do with that one.

I think they're working on a BUNCH of stuff as we type. The entire site is slowly morphing into AR15.com Classic.

Even the SUBSCRIPTIONS button is back.

I had a temp fix for all the folks who had issues with old green button jumps. (Going past the last page due to the 50 page standardization.) Anyhow, it did not work well with new topics.

On the list sir! I'll try to find a solution for it and I'll see if I can recreate. I have a few chrome devices to test with.

FEEDBACK NOTE!!!!!

In case you missed it in my first post. The icons represent feedback and if you mouse over for a sec, will tell you the score. (% good and total sales count) It was the only way to get it in without giving up space and it's a nice quick way to see it. Anyone with no feedback shows gray. Green is good to go! Red means they somehow avoided getting banned.
