I know 2 of them well and its not uncommon for them to have 2-3 workouts per day. I know a guy who'll literally stop by his gym for a 'quick' workout any time he's driving past and isn't in a rush. Have a feeling a lot of that SWAT team and PD knew there was some hinky stuff going on and said nothing.
Also sounds like someone needs to clean house and break it off in the asses of the cops that alerted him that they [head brass] were on to him. There is going to be some very worried people if he makes bail. |

Very had to believe that other range guys weren't aware of the ammo going missing, or how the brass was being handled. If the majority of the slush funds were going towards gear for the whole team, not just into his pockets, they would have been incentivized to look the other way. When investigators come to interview you, "I had no idea that was happening, and that is not allowed," is the answer of self-preservation, plausible or not.

Members of the SWAT team were aware that the deputy, Darrion Keith Holiwell, was taking brass shells from a gun range where SWAT practices and sold them. Money went to a slush fund that was said to be affiliated with the Sheriff’s Office – but Urquhart said Holiwell kept that fund secret from commanders. There is also evidence that Holiwell sold steroids to members of the SWAT team. But the Sheriff’s Office can’t say exactly how many deputies may be steroid users – it’s against the law for them to test .... He also said there may be other charges for additional deputies who are being investigated. A major crimes detective is under investigation for rendering criminal assistance and obstruction because she’s believed to have tipped Holiwell when she learned of the investigation. That detective is one of two Sheriff Office staff on paid administrative leave during the investigation. |

We drug test just about every other job in the US. These guys are exposed to drugs on a day to day basis, where there is a huge potential for abuse, yet it's illegal to drug test them..... out of all people?!
