Just a glance through the first page.
19/50 of respondents either have a gluten intolerance or are close to somewhat who does. I didnt count the number of people who were afflicted (ie: the guy with 4 celiac kids were counted as 1) Of course there is some slection bias as people who are "intolerant" are more likely to click on the thread. But 38 fucking percent? Marketing is a powerful beast. Enjoy your almond flour |

People diagnose themselves with all kinds of things incorrectly. They are only looking for answers to solve problems that a doctor hasn't figured out for them. My sister in law started doing the gluten free stuff because she thought it may help a skin condition that the dermatologist hadn't really helped. She learned that gluten wasn't her problem...no harm caused.
If it helps some that suffer with different conditions or diseases then that's great. It causes harm to no one. |

That she have a lifelong autoimmune disease that will likely kill her in the form of intestinal cancer OR that she's a dumbshit who follows fad diets? I honestly wasn't sure. |

Just for the record I paid thousands of dollars to have 2 of my 4 kids gene tested to confirm celiac disease. I felt they were to young to go through the endoscopy. Wife and 2 oldest kids were confirmed by endoscopy.
I eat gluten probably everyday but wife and kids certainly do not eat it on purpose. I don't think any of you tough guys laughing at people avoiding eating gluten would enjoy seeing your 5 year old vomiting for an hour because they ate something that was contaminated with gluten. |

I just know that if I eat less carbs after say about... 1500. I lose weight. So I try to eat my carbs in the morning then none after I get home from work. I try to cut out as many non natural sugars as possible. Thats it. |

I feel sorry for the delicate snowflakes though. Are you seriously suggesting that fast food isn't bad for you? Or that eating shit food is somehow manly? Neither. I'm talking about those who post in every fast-food related thread they "can't eat that stuff because it gives me the shits for a week" (or similar). There was a lengthy "McDonalds not doing well financially" thread last week. LOTS of "I can't eat that stuff" posts--as opposed to "I choose to eat healthier stuff." That's why, foods I used to like now tastes like hospital food, bland, lifeless, tasteless, and just plain nasty. All for a higher price. What gets me though is that there is no reason for it, while there is a very small minority of people who actually need to avoid gluten the vast majority of people that feel they must avoid gluten have absolutely no medical or logical reason to do so, they are sheep mindlessly following a fad, never once applying any independent or critical thought to it. It's not gluten free, it's critical thinking free. And these morons vote. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Who cares what diet people choose to eat? More power to them. Quoted:
I have it. Very painful when you eat the wrong stuff. Have pretty much given up eating the gluten free food. Taste like crap and very disappointing. If I could only eat one gluten thing it would be English muffins and I would be satisfied. The stuff they substitute for wheat flour health wise isn't really any better for you. Going to a restaurant is like tip toeing thru a mine field. That's why, foods I used to like now tastes like hospital food, bland, lifeless, tasteless, and just plain nasty. All for a higher price. It's not gluten free, it's critical thinking free. And these morons vote. Which foods? Which foods that you liked before are now gone or horribly changed now that gluten free is more widespread? Name them. |

I just started a gluten free diet. But that's only because it's a low carb diet and gluten is too many carbs. Well you started a low gluten diet, which is incidental. You are still probably eating things with barley malt extract and whatnot. Not unless it's in meat, leafy green vegetables and milk products. The glutenfairy sneaks into your house whilst you sleep to take your daughter's virginity and then spreads crushed up gluten all in your milk and vegetable and then shoots your dog on the way out the door. |

Dude, might want to get that blood pressure checked.
My autistic son and ADHD daughter have been diagnosed with gluten sensitivity. The additional products on the market make things easier. They can eat a larger variety of foods. Yes some of the labeling is overboard. But I don't mind as you may not know what it like to have to read all of the fine print ingredients on nearly everything you buy at the grocery. When my kids cheat and eat something they know they should not it either results in vomiting or diarrhea. If you don't like it too fucking bad! Please find something more worthwhile to get worthwhile next time you forget your meds. |

Because it's the cool thing these days. Like crossfit except less in your face.

Because it's the cool thing these days. Like crossfit except less in your face. View Quote That's what some people in this thread are missing, that for most of these people it is just that, a fad. Bothered is no logical reason for it they just do it anyway because they blindly believe that they have to. They are stupid and gullible, and unfortunately elible to vote. The rant is on stupidity and lack of critical thinking amongst the populace. |
