Leeu.
Africaans for "lion." Simba is Swahili for lion, but that always seemed like a male cat's name. Leeu sounds perfect for a girl. "Lion" in other languages: http://www.indifferentlanguages.com/words/lion |

"She?" Orange females ain't all that common. ... Probably not a female. ... There's about a 1 in 4 chance it's female (20-25%), so it's not that uncommon. I have an orange tabby female, out of 2 females in a litter of 4 orange tabbies eight years ago. She was the runt. Sweet little thing, barely 7 pounds. (Her name is Lucy Boots, but we just call her Boots for short.) |

Picked her up this evening and she seems to be doing very well. I got her the smallest stuffed toy (lamb chop) at the store and it's larger than she is. She keeps putting her paw on it, expecting it to move. http://giftrending.com/public/upload/gifs/14673486191467348604.gif View Quote OMG she's just the sweetest thing! |

Orange tabby females might be rare, but they aren't unheard of. I'd had two in my lifetime.

If she's a feral kitten, her first and strongest instincts will be self defense followed by the swiping blows you're seeing now.
If she bonds with you and is willing to cuddle and starts purring, you're the one. She'll need a lot, a whole lot, of gentle petting from all the adults she's exposed to. Might want to limit the "play" time as it will become learned aggressive behavior. If she demands "play" time, find her an object like a stuffed sock she can bit, claw and rake without allowing her to attack your hands. It may take awhile to "tame" her enough to safely pet her and hold her. She'll never lose that feral aggressiveness and defensive attitude. The moment she's startled she'll switch into "kill" mode and woe be the object of her aggression! Very neat cats. Extremely independent. Hopefully, she'll agree to being socialized. She looks like a real cutie! Orange cats are best purr purr cats! |
|
She's very cuddly and social. She will crawl from lap to lap when a few of us are sitting on the floor with her. She loves being held and hasn't been biting at all. She curled up against my youngest cat and fell asleep. She has shown zero feral indicators so far and is just a happy playful kitten.
She started running and jumping a bit last night, and really seemed to be having a blast. |

Have never seen a male calico or tortie, either. Nala sounds like it would fit an orange female. Orange kitties are cool. I have a large male with freckles on his nose. |
