I have never been to Arizona. Maybe I should fix that.
I know this isn't the official commitment thread, and I can't give one anyhow. I will say, I'd love to attend if it works out that I can. Two things: 1) If you need any help for sponsors, obstacle construction, how much work is involved, general advice on running the thing, etc. PM me and we can chat. Not today, though, I'm super busy. 2) You may want to wait until after CWE2 in Nov to finalize/announce obstacles, sponsors, etc. We'll all have a better idea of how some of the newer changes are working, and what you may want to improve upon farther. I also strongly recommend that you adopt some of the modified rules we used for CW4 and CWE2. Such as the 2 mags per gun limit, 10min max time for the chug, and so on. I believe those are "house rules," so you should be free to change if you want, but they are, again, strongly recommended. I don't know that we've put together a complete "rulebook" yet, but perhaps that also would be a good idea. A collection of house rules, plus descriptions of each obstacle and how it must be completed, etc. I'm not doing the work to write it, but it would be a good idea, is all I'm saying. |

These are the hard course rules: OVERALL: (5 obstacles, 5 peeps, 1/2 mile run, steel rifle targets, steel pistol targets, chug 72oz of carbonated beverage.) COURSE RULES: 5 minute penalty for each failed obstacle. Each obstacle must be attempted for at least 10 seconds. 5 minute penalty for each peep uneaten or spit out before chug. 5 minute penalty for each target left un-hit, one hit each steel target. 5 minute penalty for each Carbonated beverage unchugged. 10 minute total chug time allowed, everything left after will be penalized. 6 12oz cans, 3 24oz cans, or 1 2liter with a 5oz chaser are the only allowed sizes. If you vomit before finishing a 12oz can, no matter how much is left that can it is a 5 minute penalty. If you vomit before finishing a 24oz can, no matter how much is left that can is a 10 minute penalty. If you vomit before finishing 2liter it is a 30 min penalty |

Honestly that sounds like the toughest part of this whole thing. That's more pop than I've drank in the past couple years and I can't chug to save my life. I would probably have to take the penalty on that one. |

I almost had my third one down at CW4 and then, I spewed. Yay! Crawfish and corn. Right there on the firing line. Not you could tell because it was promptly swallowed up by the river flowing through the range. |

Guess it's time to learn. You wouldn't be the first Cola Warrior to have never shot at intermediate ranges (i.e. anything requiring a dope/hold). It's a humbling experience. Hence the two mag limit. (60 rounds? To hit 8 targets? How could you miss any? Yeah, you'd think so, right? Heh, heh, heh. ) Also, it's double plus mindfucky when the farthest target is camouflaged. "Because bad guys wear camouflage." Thankfully, RustedAce is a pretty swell guy, and more or less talked me onto the target. "It's about fifteen feet left of the 250, and another 50 yards back..." <squints through the haze and rain< You sure? The brown thing? "Yeah, it's brown and green. Bad guys are camouflaged, dude." Ahh, fuck... I think I can barely see the outline of the left shoulder... Then I just sort of bracketed the area until I got a ping. People think Cola Warrior is easy until they actually do it. |

If you bring an AR pistol, can you use it for both pistol & carbine? RA says it must be an actual handgun, not what beaurocrats consider a pistol. This, and if You could, You would only be able to have 2 mags total sine You are using the same gun. |

Also any shooting position is allowed. Id like to leave the range portion more open ended, because conditions of the host land will dictate what can be done. This was last years: I have never shot past 100 yards... Guess it's time to learn. With future sights, hold center, squeeze trigger. Unless you want to memorize iron sight drops. If you bring an AR pistol, can you use it for both pistol & carbine? Two beta mags SHHH!!!!!! don't give it away. If you want to spend $600 for mags to try to game it, you can. If you really want to just spend money, you can also bring a belt-fed (two belts of standard size) or grenade launcher (notional kill radius with training rounds, based on what the weapon would actually be capable of with real rounds - you get two units' worth of whatever the standard carrying container for the rounds is). But the easiest and fastest thing to do is to have an in-spec CWAR and just shoot the targets. You will regret it if you bring a stupid gun, a jam-prone magazine, or anything like that. Which is part of the point of the event - to show you that bringing an AK to a rifle fight is retarded. |
