Lot of good tips on machining and suppressor making.  Waaaay outside the scope of this thread.

General idea with rifle cans is that you need them to be strong and stress-free, because they get hot as fuck.  Mine melted the side of the recycling bin, and that's only after maybe 20-something rounds.  (I know, not a great indication of "hot as fuck" but just work with me here)

Be aware that making a rifle can yourself, you will not get the weight, performance, and feature combinations you get by buying one.  You may get weight or performance, but probably not both.

If you've got a TIG to work with, it makes the task both easier and harder.  Yes, the baffles still need to be machined, but you can do it on a lathe and the process is much simpler.  Then you weld all the baffles together, while keeping them straight with a compression clamp rig that has a .230" steel rod through the middle to hold alignment.  You need to make the jig, and you need to be good at TIG welding, but going with a welded core dramatically reduces the required machining time.  It also gives you more and better baffle profile options.

If you've never done it before, and if you're not a good welder and machinist, you're really better off buying one.

Do note:  "Your buddy" can't make it for you and still have it be on a form 1.

Pistol, here's a video of the making of a Saker. It's a welded-core design. You can see the clamping and alignment jig, and how they weld it. This is the way you want to do it if you have a TIG.

COLA WARRIOR SWAG!

For slowest "run." Not the course, but the half mile. I had to stop. Twice. My heart was going to explode. I believe this was iwouldntknow's prize

My bacon bandages obtained through injury in the face adversity...was this Pistol? I'll correct it if I'm wrong. I was in a hungover, joint pain induced fog after trying to figure out the bottom four finishers for my Sgt. Sugar Cookie name plates...of which I was one. Fourth to last. I gave myself a prize.

goodmedicine contributed a custom holster as a prize for worst injury(ies) and here is what I received in the mail today. I am seriously impressed. A 1.5" Belt loop, 10 degree cant, full sweat guard. right-handed, coyote-brown G17 holster.Yes, he actually asked me all of those questions on Tuesday, and it arrived today with some extras. The mag holster is the tits (all of it is. Seriously.) The indent matches perfectly. I can draw both items quickly, and yet I feel like I could hang upside down for days without worrying about losing my weapon or mag. Check him out in the EE. This stuff beats the crap out of comparably priced gear at the local gun shop.

And now to Geissele. Thank you so much for all you gave to Cola Warrior. I actually have two shirts, but one is in the laundry already. Two hats, two shirts, two badges, a sticker, and one sweet fucking custom engraved trigger that no one will ever have unless they participated in CW3 (or they kill one of us and steal it.) You guys have inspired me to build my first AR, and I swear I'll be using your products to help me do it. It's going to take me a while, but it's going to be ready for CW4.

Thank you, Cola Warrior!

I first saw it wandering around Bourbon St in NOLA and . Large was the largest they had. I knew it had to be a prize.  It was awarded based on who people pointed at when I asked who ran slowest.
