Reading on twitter that a large swath of West is leveled. Not good. http://www.kwtx.com/home/headlines/Explosion-Injuries-Reported-At-West-Fertilizer-Plant-203505331.html There were reports that people were trapped in the nursing home and in an apartment building.
Scanner traffic indicated that some residents of both the nursing home and apartment building were severely injured. Shit. Very very bad. It's pretty windy right now too, so fires could spread quickly. If the Czech Stop is gone, I may cry. |

If you sensitize ammonium nitrate, all you need is an ignition source. What does that? Better question is how can that happen accidentally in a fertilizer plant? There was a fire. |

Tinfoil fuckers need to GTFO.
It was a fire and an explosion. Tragic accident, not an Obama plot. Jesus H. Christ. |

Did I just hear them call for a bomb squad? I was about to post this. I heard them asking as well for their location. |

Looking at the clouds, I'm wondering what the weather was like, could there been a lightening strike?
Listening to the scanner, people still trapped in a rest home. Bomb squad is on their way. Bad deal

Doesn't need Obama to cause it, but it does make for an excellent site to bomb if you are a terrorist. Lord knows you just need to light the spark..... These were exactly the types of attacks we were told to expect post 911. |

Probably unrelated, but just saw something where Waco Police have confirmed a "bomb" was found in a car during a traffic stop?????? Anyone heard anything?
|
|
In my experience , FERTILIZER in and of it's self , IS NOT explosive , WILL NOT burn. There may be some specific blends that will , but I've been in the fert, business 25 years. After OKC we tried EVERY concivable combination , of probable ways to cause a fire/explosion (on a SMALL scale).
There was NOTHING we mixed up that would explode or EVEN burn , without an external source. ammonia nitriate , urea , postasium , phosphate , sulphur , boron ETA: if they had an anhydrous leak , BAD , BAD doesn't get much worse than that. |
|
I hope this isn't my buddy Steve's plant. He owns several throughout the region.
Prayers for all involved.... |

Maybe just to have some guys who are knowledgeable about explosives on hand? I don't know, hopefully it's something along those lines and not in response to anything nefarious. |

Have many friends in the area... Trying to get in touch with them.

That's the Czech Bakery in West, TX. I used to grab food there all the time. This thread worried me for a second because it said Waco. Which is where my Alma Mater, Baylor University, is.

Judging from the picture there may not be a lot of people left to save. Have to activate the areas EOC and try to stabilize the incident.

They just confirmed it, apparently. |
