The VD-VF are the civil registration left from the factory. It is my understanding that the white wing tips and nose signify it flying somewhere in the Med like Italy.  I’m not sure if it’s a G6 as I can’t see if it has bulges in front of the cockpit. It is an R6 because of the underwing MG-151’s.

Looking for another pic, look what I came across:

My guess is that they have 2, based on the FAQ on the website.

The Blue Angels typically provide two backseat flights at each show site for selected personnel. Both riders fly with the Number 7 pilot in the two-seat jet. One of those riders are selected from the Key Influencer (KI) program and the other is a credentialed media representative. The KI program selects individuals who shape attitudes and opinions of youth in their communities. KIs may be experts in their field, public figures, leaders of youth organizations, teachers, guidance counselors or school administrators. They are not always the person at the top of an organization, but rather individuals that have an impact on recruiting youth and/or a specific target audience. Flying these candidates, in coordination with media presence, is intended to promote the Navy and Marine Corps as professional and exciting organizations in which to serve. To be selected as a Key Influencer, you must first be nominated by a commanding officer of a Navy or a Marine Corps recruiting district. For more information, contact your local recruiter or air show.

Three actually.  162419 is their one 2-seater F/A-18B.  163468 in the pic and 163464 are their two 2-seater F/A-18Ds.

They have several, and depending on maintenance needs they can fly several of them at once. I have a few pictures from a year or two ago with two #7 aircraft.

P-39 Aerocobra. That was right as they were unloading it from the shipping container in from New Zealand. They had it back together and running in like 2 days. Granted it had just finished a full restoration and was flying before being shipped. Waiting on final FAA approval before its first flight stateside.

I might head out to the museum next weekend to see it in one piece.

Yes, I will be there. My wife and I usually set up on the far side of the symphony stage, close to the safety line closest to the runway.
