You say that and yes the show twists them around, but they just all appear like idiots on TV. Amazing how Flem is the only one who seems to know what he is doing and consistently comes across as the only normal guy there. Maybe TV just magnifies what you are like in real life? All of them know what they are doing. Sadly, Discovery edits things to make it appear as it does, not as it really is. Will has a passion for restoring black powder firearms. His handy work and attention to detail is amazing. Joe, while being more practical is incredibly competent and almost OCD on getting it exactly right. He doesn't half ass anything. Dave, Zach and Flem are amazing when it comes to thinking out of the box. Their knowledge spans a huge variety of firearms and other subjects. And while a lot of people talk shit about Stephanie, she's one of the sweetest ladies I know. She knows more about guns than probably 99% of the people on this site. Kris is one of the hardest working people I've ever met. He's incredibly outgoing and comes up with solutions to problems that most people would never even begin to think of. Seeing everything behind the scenes there makes one really appreciate the crap they have to go through for Discovery. Are they perfect? Nope, they're human beings just like us. Do they deserve the crap that is flung at them for being actors in a show? Nope. I read the posts talking shit about them on here and other places and I have to laugh. You guys do know the difference between TV and the real world right? |

You guys do know the difference between TV and the real world right? That's good info, and about what I'd expect from a TV production company. All the herp & derp that everyone bitches about is manufactured to look that way by the producers, who think that's what gets ratings higher, and in TV, ratings are everything. They're pandering to a "know-nothing" audience, the same people who think gas tanks explode when shot because they saw it in the movies (they explode here too, so that should provide a big clue as to audience the producers are aiming at ) To real "gun people", it comes off as assinine. The producers are feeding the trolls exactly what the trolls want. I watch the show because it's about one of my favorite subjects... guns. But I tune out the herp & derp drama crap the producers can't get enough of, because I know it's all faked for TV ratings. |

Thanks for the insight, HR. Haven't seen your episode yet, I'm a couple of weeks behind but the DVR catches 'em all for me.
I've met and talked with Joe briefly at the NRA AM, but my only real dealings with any of them was getting Flem to rework and refinish a badly worn and beat old HS Supermatic for me a couple of years back... and his work was just shy of magical with that old gun. |

Last nites episode is gonna be on again at noon CST. Wish it was more about guns then the drama. I mean Wil is cutting the Glock then they show the finished piece 60 seconds later.

From what i have seen of the workmanship quality, well its pretty bad. what is CNC or done on a mill seems to be fine.
the welding and paint is a flat out joke. I machine, weld and fab things daily. I dont see how they put out what they do. the stuff just LOOKS so bad. as in not well made. that on TV showcases what you can do, i'm surprised they dont try even harder to make things look nicer. when i do welds i always blend and try to make it look like there was never a weld done. they do this and it looks like a 6yr old did the work. |

You guys do know the difference between TV and the real world right? It's just like all the misdirected hate actors get for playing believable or hated villains on fictional shows, such as the death threats Jack Gleeson and Lena Heady were receiving for, rather superbly, acting out their characters on Game of Thrones. People in general are just retards. |

That gun was way fast...approximately 45 rounds per second or a fire rate of 45 hertz. Folks @ RJF were kind enough to let me try it out when I passed through and came by. A 20 round test burst: video of 20 round test fire That ringing you hear is every oxygen and argon tank in the place ringing in sympathetic vibration It will balance on one finger at the base of the rear pistol grip as well.... There is an oxygen tank in a range? Oh, that's a good idea Reading comprehension... you need it. The tanks weren't on the range but in the building, safely away from the range. Yet they were still close enough to be ringing from the shooting? Or maybe someone was just playing Taps on them with a hammer. Got it. No, actually you don't get it. But that's okay, some things you can't fix. |

What would the rate of fire for the Mac/Glock be suppressed? View Quote Two things most likely would happen.... 1) depending on the can material it might fail due to the extreme heat as there is a secondary combustion area about 3-4 inches in front of the muzzle (can be seen in the first video I linked to earlier in this thread). 2) The rate of fire would increase most likely faster than a magazine could present the next round. Your question has many variables such as load data of the ammo, design of the suppressor, type of magazine used etc..... |

I wish Chris would hurry up and get his ass kicked already. Yep, he's a fucking punk. This comment earned me an IM from a Chris fan. They make us look bad. I'm sure the show is the only exposure a lot of people get of gun owners. Acting or not, they portray themselves as unsafe inbred douchebags. Flem, and Joe are the exception. |

Think I was watching closer last night than I normally would but this jumped out at me. In early episodes Will made it VERY clear that NO LIVE ROUNDS IN THE SHOP. He may have been dry firing and getting a feel for the ergos and the production crew cut it out. Still hurts to see it though. |

Not even close. Nope. I read the posts talking shit about them on here and other places and I have to laugh. ...Talk all the shit about it you want but until you meet everyone there and see who they REALLY are, you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Who are they, REALLY? Everyday folks who are very nice in real life, whose life is under a microscope on and off screen. You say that and yes the show twists them around, but they just all appear like idiots on TV. Amazing how Flem is the only one who seems to know what he is doing and consistently comes across as the only normal guy there. Maybe TV just magnifies what you are like in real life? Not even close. View Quote Every Discovery Reality Show has the EXACT Same dynamic.....Unrealistic Deadlines, Interpersonal Drama and just enough technical stuff to keep the gearheads watching.... Im SURE they knew what was coming, but im ALSO sure that they are being paid well for it, and their name is getting out there. The show wont last forever, but their business will probably be there when the show has been relegated to reruns |
