Hammr and I were talking about this the other night, and either Planet Destiny or Crucible Radio borough this up and it makes sense - a lot of the Destiny PVP community on XBox are former sweaty ass competitive Halo players as well. Skill based matchmaking, combined with a player base that is inherently very competitive, can make for some miserable trips through the crucible.
I'm told that the matchmaking on PS4 is much more lax and forgiving overall. |

In my matchmaking experiences it's not been that crazy different, but i'm just a medicore crucible guy. Some games I come in and wreck shop, others I come in and feel like a newb. For reference, it took me about the same time to finish my thorn and bad jujuj bounties on both systems, maybe one match difference. |

I find the normal population will mostly be playing IB and the frequency of running into the try-hards in Trials increases. |

I look at it like this. Until private matches get here you won't have true fun because atleast half of the other team is always trying their hardest. I plan on having a ton of fun in private matches. Ban certain weapon types do side arms only, the skies the limit.

Thoughts on the Suros DIS-47? I have one with near max stability and hidden hand that seems like it should be a god roll. Took it into a control game on bannerfall and got destroyed. I don't think I had a single primary kill. I couldn't land shots for anything, and when I did I just got outgunned.

View Quote It's the 52/37 archetype scout, the very fast firing, low impact type, like Inward Lamp, NL Shadow 701X, B-Line Trauma, Deadshot Luna, etc. The thing is, IME, most of the scouts of that archetype have very low aim assist regardless of the optics used. I have a full auto Inward Lamp, it's basically the same thing as the DIS-47, and the sights don't feel as "sticky" as other weapons, like they don't drift and gravitate towards the target. Especially if you've been using something like Mida Multitool for a while, which basically points itself at the target's head for you, going to a 52/37 scout can feel a little off for the first few games. It's a pretty good weapon though. I think it crits for 45 and body shots for low 30s in non-light enabled crucible. It's just overshadowed because most everyone who uses a scout rifle in PVP uses Mida, and Mida has a ton of aim assist which makes it feel like easy mode. |

In the tower in front of the big door by the Speaker.
Bellicose - could be fun for airborne nightfalls or heroics. Kinda blah otherwise. Gravititon - do you like shadestep? Then buy this. Do you not like shadestep? Then you don't need it. It does a thing - how important that thing is to you, only you can decide. Manacles - good stuff. Set your voidwalker up to emphasize energy drain, and your basically get catapult for free. You will never be without a grenade. Universal Remote - oh boy. I hate dying to this thing in the crucible with a passion. That said, it's not the easiest weapon in the world to use. Strictly a PVP buy, and not a very good one at that. Legacy chest, and I think just about all of the chest armors are in year two now. |

HM raid through LFG has been the worse the past couple of weeks. Last night I joined a group....all were 330+ and only two of us had completed the raid before. Gaze grabber taking it from back left instead of top of box, titan not knowing about setting bubble up in tunnel, people running outside of the aura at totems and it not transferring, ect.
I'm assuming the others got their ll through challenge of elders and iron banner. We did end up making it to daughters before getting off for the night, and surprisingly did the challenge, but it took us almost 3 hours to get there. I know with the group we've ran through here, we couple probably be close to having three full runs in during that time. I think I might steer clear of lfg for the next three weeks, and just run nm with some of my friends that recently picked the game back up, or at least people I've ran the raid with before. I can only assume people are trying to finish MOT and are just not being honest on their lfg posts. |
|
LFGs for the most part have always been rough for me. 100io has been alright, but even then...there's always one of two douchebags in the raid group that make things unnecessarily difficult and painful.
Anyways, I'm down to help on a raid if need be. After I pick up my First Curse today I plan on deleting and resetting my titan, but I've still got two max level characters that can raid, and who knows, I might have my titan ready by this weekend. Seems like we're almost always lacking a bubble bro on Arfcom raids. |
|
I'm not to worried about it, I was just running through for some infusion fodder, but at this point everything I use or wear is pretty much as high as it's going to get, minus a ll or 2. Here lately I've just been farming heroic strikes. I'm still trying to get the grasp to drop, but no dice so far.
I thought about deleting a character so I could go back through and pick up the first rifle and throw it in the vault for next dlc, but don't know what I would even delete. Warlock more than likely, as I could never delete my hunter (1st character) and titan because of bubble. |

I did 1 raid with a group from the100. It took 3-4 hours to get up to Oryx in normal mode. Everyone claimed they had done the raid before except for me, but I knew more about the encounters from watching a couple youtube vids than most of the team so I'm skeptical. The only other time I've done KF was with an arfcom group. Full hard mode clear in less than 2 hours IIRC, and I really drug it out taking forever to get through the 2nd jumping puzzle. I think the100 is great for finding groups for 3-person PvE activities and IB (unless you're looking for a super sweaty try-hard team), but I'd rather not raid than wipe on the totems 20 times with randoms.

I'll be down for just about anything. I know I'll be running strikes a bunch. Maybe some pvp until I get pissed off at that which lately only takes about 3 games. I gotta finish up the story stuff on my fresh Titan. Gonna try and get all the subclasses ranked up again. Mostly just prepping for rise in a couple weeks. Between exotics and legendary engrams I think I have a combined 40+ right now. The old exotic engrams should decode into higher light but the legendaries will only go into the current levels but it will rank up cryptarc quickly and get fresh drops from him.

It wasn't the length of the actual content that got to me, since I'm used to a lot of loot based shooters/aRPGs, but it was the progression. Only one way to get certain gear that was usually locked behind ToO or a raid, and it just seemed like everybody had the same 1 or 2 sets of armor running the same abilities doing the same stuff. If there are at least multiple paths to end game loot I can get on board with that. |

I would say hop on play a bit and check it out. A lot has changed with the April and June updates. There are basically 6 ways to earn end game material. Raid, trials, iron banner, challenge of elders, nightfall and the pvp nightfall equivalent.

I kinda quit messing with the raid before the April update. All of my characters were around 315-317 light.
I've raided maybe three or four times since the update, and spent most of my time in PVP. Now all of my characters are 333-334 capable. If you can put up with the bullshit of the crucible, it's a good place to level up. |

Tower hanger, to the right as you go down the stairs.
Eternal Warrior - eh, meh. I guess if you like using Unstoppable and Shoulder Charge or Jugg, sure. I normally just use Unstoppable and call it a day, as with most titan exotics, Armamentarium is arguably more useful for PVP, and Ruin Wings for PVE. Knucklehead Radar - gives you third eye. Again, meh. There will be an artifact that does this in Rise of Iron, and you can get primaries that roll this anyways. Obsidian Mind - this was the voidwalker exotic back during The Dark Below, now, not so much. It's exotic perk was nerfed a while back, and the current content doesn't really favor nova bomb like it did back in the day. But who knows what Rise of Iron will bring. I'd pick it up for that just in case. TLW - oh boy. The bestest 1v1 primary in the game, hands down. Not the easy to use facemelter it was on year one, but still very powerful up close. Not a thing in PVE, this is strictly a PVP weapon, and a good one at that. Buy it and try it if you mess around in the crucible any, and I hate any and all of you that use this thing. Not really, but still. This is a very hard weapon to fight against at close to mid range in a 1v1. Legacy heavy, in case you wanted an old school Gjallarhorn or something. |

View Quote A friend of mine has exactly one exotic shard. I told him to go buy this so he could hopefully unlock something from year 2 to be able to start gaining more. I wish they would just sell shards for strange coins again for people like that. |

Best course of action IMO for that is to use and abuse three of coins.
It does suck though for year two players, not having materials needed to readily upgrade exotics. Xur should sell exotic shards again. |

The struggle is real. Pretty much all of my exotics are the same light level as when I got them. I've only upgraded Ruin Wings, MIDA, Tlaloc, Ace of Spades, and my first Thunderlord (later dismantled for 2 shards and replaced with a higher LL drop). I don't play a ton and have not gotten very many duplicate exotics, and even if something sucks I've been holding on to stuff in the event Bungie decides to give random exotic X that no one uses a huge buff. I think I only have 10 or so shards, and some of those are from dismantling upgraded exotics and getting 2 shards.
Quintin is right about getting shards though...best use of strange coins is buying three of coins and grinding strikes. I also pop a three of coins and help out with the taken zealots if I see someone doing that while I'm on a patrol. |
