So I placed my order the same day that AIM sent the letter. I was curious why my order hasn't shipped yet. I want to know if this letter has anything to do with my delayed order. Does anyone know if AIM destroys the DL info and C&R info if those documents expired? I know they had my C&R info, but I let it expire and I since moved. I am not a happy camper with AIM. They have made thousands from ARF and others. The DL I had on record with them expired since I originally sent it. Mine too,so old in fact that i no longer live at that address |

Got my letter today. Bought ammo from them a few times in 2014 after I got my CMP Garand.
Hated that they required ID, I think I even uploaded my CCW |
|
|
Just opened my letter. I knew it the moment I saw AIM in the envelope widow.

Got my letter today. Yesterday my Chase account flagged two fraudulent charges and lock the card account. This may or may not be a coincidence, but first CC alert I've had. I understand stuff happens, but I've done a bunch or business with AIM in the past year or so and probably won't be back. When any business accepts payment they accept responsibility for securing their end of the transaction. Same with requiring the ID upload they required for ammo sales.
|
|
Glad I never have bought ammo from AIM, only parts.
Though I vowed long ago not to because of their other stupid requirement of having to be 21 to buy rifle ammo. |
|
Got my letter today
My DL was current, but my C&R was outdated. Not super impressed right now, I buy a lot from them, I'm going to have to let this settle to see if that continues. |
|
Got home from work and found my letter waiting for me.
What a stupid thing to happen. They never even needed to save the photos of anyone's drivers licenses anyways. Why didn't the just check a box on my account once they saw the photo and call it good. Stupid and annoying. |

Five pages and no one from AIM has responded. Even 1badf350 posting scantly clad photos won't fix this. I'm disappointed. Ummmm yeah, but that sure wouldn't hurt... AIM is good people though, and I completely understand their reasoning for requiring the DL photos. It's called CYA. You guys can be pissed all you want, but AIM didn't do this on purpose and you're just at risk with having info compromised at any other online retailer. I chalk it up to "shit happens". Good people step up and respond. That's what most of us love about AIM - they answer questions, they stand behind their products, and they are responsive and involved. Their lack of response to this thread is worst than their lackluster security practices. i am going to give them some benifit of the doubt here as this is very likely a criminal investigation now. |

Oh well shit happens.
I got an entire year of monitoring from Adobe when their systems were breached. |

View Quote Haven't checked for a letter yet but my info was stolen out of HealthNet years ago, now this. My drivers license doesn't have my ssn on it. Nor does my ccw. I already have lifenet or whatever. I'll take whatever whatever they offer as well. |

Got my letter....I understand criminal investigations...but 22 days to notify? Ridiculous. I'm done with AIM on that alone.

If it makes you feel better, Trump hotels had the same thing happen last year.
How many that dislike AIM right now will be voting for Trump? |
|
Trying to remember the last time I bought ammo from them. I like AIM. Usually the last place I look for ammo though.

Most here are well stocked up and wont be buying from anyone in Nov much less from AIM Have fun with your panic purchases |

When I was 20 I tried buying rifle ammo from them but they wouldn't sell it to me because their policy is 21 or older for rifle ammo sales, even with proof of ID. Never so much as looked at their website again.
Fuck them, I'm glad they wouldn't sell to me. |

I was wrapping some tin foil on my head earlier and came up with a good one.
What if this was just the start of hacks on online gun/ammo venders. .gov compiling a 'list' of gun owners easier with some random 'hacks' than trying to force gun shops etc from turning over 4473's.... |
|
I just bought some ammo a short time ago. My C&R on file ran out before I renewed it 3 years ago.
I was contemplating picking up a couple of the nickle BCG sets but not now. |

Cause it's about time one of you got in here who came up with this web server full of drivers licenses? The same ones that built the Obama care website? Why did it take a month to notify us? |

I have not got a letter from AIM but just in case went ahead and had my card frozen.
I got hit when Widner's got hacked, three or four fraudulent charges off of that card. |

This is a disaster a total disaster I mean totally a total disaster. It's unbelievable so unbelievable . I'm good friends with aim I love aim but this is a disaster

Got my letter today. Sucks. They're the only ammo company I've had to send my ID to. All done buying from them now unfortunately. |

View Quote Save some foil for me. I thought that also. Obama says looking into some new measures yesterday. Hacking for info, calling it "data mining". Creating distrust for online commerce, then increase the taxes on businesses that sell making ammo unaffordable. Won't take the guns, but makes them inoperable. Guns are the symbols of New Confederacy. Banned and removed without a whimper except for online sabre rattling. |

I think this is my fifth data breach. Woohoo!
I haven't gotten a letter yet, but I've definitely bought ammo from AIM starting a few years ago. Pretty retarded of them to retain pics of peoples ID's and to leave it on a web connected server. But, I really can't say I'm surprised that an online gun company has IT that is amateur hour level stuff. |

They paid way less than that because the company plans on keeping you after the year. This offer is the same as free trials that they offer it's going to cost aim next to nothing if anything at all. |
