Looks like I've got no other reason to watch BBC anymore. ST:TNG is on BBC All seasons of all Star Trek shows are available on Netfilx. The same isn't true for Top Gear. The fact that they recently yanked all the episodes of Top Gear from Netflix really pisses me off. Now all that's on there is something like 4 series. |

Hell, if they sack him I bet he could easily be picked up by an American station. It could finally make an American Top Gear viable. . . View Quote The biggest problem with Top Gear US is the TV format itself. Between commercial breaks and those previews and recaps they do before and after, there's maybe 30 minutes of programming. If Clarkson leaves the BBC, the best venue for him would be YouTube. |

Well shit!
Jezza and Top Gear will live forever on my computer. |

Without him they have nothing.
He ain't no myth busters extra.. |

That and the size of Top Gear's audience is sufficiently large that manufacturers actually have a bit of fear of TG's ire. Look how petty Top Gear made Bentley and Ferrari look when those guys wouldn't play ball. Clarkson in America would be a nightmare of boycott threats and network executives scared shitless. |

You know, like "Taylor Swift looks exquisite as she tucks into a plate of mountain oysters", or "Kim Kardashian tucks into a mound of cheese fries as her ass bursts from her pants". I fucking hate that word. |

I knew the PBS/BBC conspiracy was going to catchup with Jezza. BBC wants more money for shitty shows like Podark and other crappy costume dramas that PBS can foist on "sophisticated" American audiences. ********Back to Reality********** Without Clarkson on Top Gear, I got no reason to watch the BBC except for the excellent history shows or documentaries. Where else could I watch a four part behind the scenes series on the House of Commons or Michael Portillo riding around the country with his Bradshaw's travel guide? |

Seems like they've been gunning for him. He's not slick and mealy-mouthed enough for them I think.

Maybe he wanted to do something with the hot hunter that the UK got all upset about. Or just made fun of Mexico again.

Clarkson has a reputation for being an asshole. An entertaining asshole but still. He is also waaaaay to un PC for the BBC (part of what makes him so entertaining).
As a huge fan of the show, it pains me to say this but Top Gear in the current format has pretty much run its course. |

Don't hate cause I speak the truth I record all of the new episodes, but usually just end up fast forwarding through most of it. It's lost something over the last few years. Seems forced, formulaic and I get the feeling that they would rather be doing something else at this point. |

I wonder if a network like HBO or Showtime could pick up a show like Top Gear and be successful at it?
I don't know what the budget or audience of something like Game of Thrones is, but surely a car review show would be less expensive to produce? |

Clarkson keeps getting in trouble for having a very British sense of humor, which is ironic considering he is getting in trouble at the BBC. You would think those guys understand British humor.

YouTube like Leno. I believe Mr. Clarkson would take a considerable paycut going to youtube. That brings up the question, does he need the paycheck? If this was a money deal he'd bite his tongue and play ball. If this is a managment issue, he could put out the videos he wanted on YouTube and not answer to anyone. I'm a new Top Gear fan, so I still have a lot of episodes to catch up on |

when you have somebody like Clarkson
you find a new producer they cant be that stupid line up the 3 hosts almost anybody could tell you who Clarkson is very few could tell you the names of the other two hosts hell I have watched top gear for years and right this second I am drawing a blank on the other two hosts names |
|
Let Top Gear die, its been looking for a place to lay down anyway.
A huge controversy would be a perfect way to kill it. Clarkson can thumb his nose at the PC world he hates and claim victory. The BBC can retain their stuffy superiority complex and claim victory. Then Clarkson can move onto something new and fresh. Whether or not the other two will attempt to hold the show together is hard to say. I hope not. Nothing lasts forever but I hope they continue on something else. |

It takes all three of them to make the true magic of Top Gear. Have you seen any of the specials that only have one or two of them? They are okay, but nowhere near the greatness when all three are together. |

View Quote He has the "Neanderthal" British sense of humor. More in the vein of Monty Python then current times. They want a socially, politically and environmentally correct sense of humor. Clarkson possesses none of those traits. It has seemed like for the past season or two that a lot of the spontaneous humor and chemistry between the three of them has faded. Don't know if that is the production staff trying to assert more creative control or if there is some issues between the guys (money perhaps). Regardless, the spark has faded. |

he makes a shit ton of money for BBC, they're stupid to suspend him.
no one else would care about BBC America if it wasn't for TG, maybe Kitchen Nightmares |

Netlifx man!
New media. Forget about the old guard. Clarkson should use this opportunity to move on up. |
