So what high quality AK's do we need to buy now before they are no more?

VECTOR ARMS makes some quality AKs.........that are more reasonably priced then ORF, not that there is anything wrong with ORF, but their prices tend to be a bit high for them. I would also buy a parts kit, in case you ever need to replace the barrel way down the road........that is if you plan on keeping it for a long, long time.

What I'd like to know is.. what does this do for SKSs and Garands (like Danish issue) etc?

Nothing. Garands are governmental
transfers (not that the CMP will get
anymore anyhow). SKSs are C&Rs
and do not fall under the "sporting
purposes" clause.

I am rueing the day.

Lesser of two evils indeed. Given the same lineup I'd vote the same way and that allows me to shove the party's mailbox full of complaints every day.

One word for you: Gonzales. He is a JBT wannabee and a liberal, a duplicitous combination of characters. He refuses to acknowledge the crime and border security problems from illegal immigration and instead spends his time entertaining gun control follies about disarming lawful citizens that he and his lifer federal appointments dream up inside the beltway.

He may be popular in parts TX, NM, AZ, CA, IL and anywhere else the illegal immigrant population and the Hispanic supremecist organizations are out of control, but he has yet to show his sorry face here in Cobb Co., GA.

Gonzales is a political hack, a stooge and a fraud and a puppet. At least Ashcroft focused on felon-in-possession laws and prosecuting repeat violent offenders, even if he did do some stupid shit like covering up a statue and scaring the reporters in DC with frank talk.

Gonzales isn't doing a tenth of Ashcroft's job keeping citizens safe from criminals, instead focusing on safe, liberal suburbanite-friendly issues so he can be the first Hispanic on the Supreme Court. What a disgrace to our country.

Did I mention I wasn't fond of the guy? At least Janet Reno had balls.

Here is the response I got back from the NRA on this issue.

Thank you for contacting the NRA-ILA. The NRA is aware of the Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) announcement on July
13, 2005, suspending importation of certain gun parts.  The
announcement affects barrels and receivers for military surplus and "non-sporting"
firearms, and for firearms subject to the provisions of the National
Firearms Act (NFA).

This decision reverses a policy that was in effect when BATFE was part
of the Treasury Department.  Under the old policy, these parts could be
imported only for repair or replacement purposes-not for construction
of complete firearms.  BATFE was transferred to the Department of
Justice in 2003 during the organization of the Department of Homeland
Security; our understanding is that the new policy is the result of a new, and
narrow, legal interpretation.

The NRA disagrees with the new policy.  We believe it is clear that the
law was only intended to affect handguns.  We look forward to working
with our allies in the Administration and on Capitol Hill to clarify the
law, so that law-abiding Americans can once again acquire the firearm
components of their choice.

Sincerely,

Amanda Millward

It amazes me how many are saying "calm down" "no biggie" etc.

And we wonder why the gungrabbers keep gaining more ground than they lose
