The Sunday talk shows should be interesting tomorrow. Who will Obama trot out this time. Certainly not Susan Rice. Yep. If they stick to their story, then they might have some reason to think that they'll get away with it. If they start throwing Romney into it, then they are busted. |

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– I heard a story today from someone inside the military that I trust entirely. The story was in reference to General Ham that Panetta referenced in the quote below. quote: –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– "(The) basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on; without having some real-time information about what's taking place," Panetta told Pentagon reporters. "And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation." –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– The information I heard today was that General Ham as head of Africom received the same e-mails the White House received requesting help/support as the attack was taking place. General Ham immediately had a rapid response unit ready and communicated to the Pentagon that he had a unit ready. General Ham then received the order to stand down. His response was to screw it, he was going to help anyhow. Within 30 seconds to a minute after making the move to respond, his second in command apprehended General Ham and told him that he was now relieved of his command. The story continues that now General Rodiguez would take General Ham's place as the head of Africon. I found this story when I got home after hearing this story. quote: –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– President Barack Obama will nominate Army Gen. David Rodriguez to succeed Gen. Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command and Marine Lt. Gen. John Paxton to succeed Gen. Joseph Dunford as assistant commandant of the Marine Corps, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced Thursday. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– General Rodigues Nominated as Head of Africon As I was typing this I heard John Bolton on Greta say that there are conflicting reports of General Ham's comments on this tragedy and why a rapid response unit was not deployed. Bolton says someone needs to find out what Ham was saying on 9/11/12. Interesting to say the least. Whoa if true this will destroy the Obama admin *if* the general fight it. This would be a good place for Sen McCain or Grhamn to step in. Graham is generaly too liberal and likely gay but he will break it off in Obama in this issue if given the chance. |

This is the worst/largest government scandal I've ever seen, it's even worse than F&F (which was downright evil) and it's happening right at election time. And the scandal is directly attributable to the unbelievably bad judgement and amateurishness of the President. If he gets re-elected we are doomed. And most of the media are doing everything they can to ignore it and cover for him. History will not be kind to Obama and his minions. This will be his legacy. Betrayal, abandonment, and death of Americans at the hands of savages that he's groveling to. Obama's presidency is the biggest inside job aimed at destroying American power and influence seen yet. It makes perfect sense for those of you who watched 2016: Obama's America. |

The only thing that slows me from calling it treason is that I just can't see the motive for these actions being intentional. Any corroboration of this rumor? Didn't happen. They weren't anywhere near Libya on 9/11. The Stennis group deployed from Bremerton in late August and had entered the Navy 5th Fleet's area of operations in the Middle East on Oct. 17 after sailing across the Pacific.

If Obama gets another 4 years after this, we are going to be in for some really hairy shit. Watch 2016, it will suddenly make sense. TL;DR - anti-colonial leftist, brainwashed as a useful idiot, sees America as the primary source of evil and is tearing down every edifice that allowed us to get where we are so as to undermine our ability to inflict our evil on others. Assuming that view is correct, the man honestly thinks destroying us is saving the world, that by implementing his marxist programs he is helping people. There is nothing more dangerous than a committed true believer, especially when he is as wrong and misguided as only a leftist can be. |

I'm hoping he starts talking. If he values his career he won't. If his Wiki is to be believed, Ham had PTSD, so any testimony would have that highlighted. I think he was in Nevada a day or so prior, although physical location on that day is not known. Nothing I have found says anything about future assignments. May be as simple as if you want to retire as a **** instead of ***, or be brought up on insubordination (if the rumors about him wanting to go ahead anyway have any credence - and it is the Interweb). Could have been something along the lines of 'we are ready to respond' and told 'do nothing until the JAG review and committee of lawyers (Leon - '63 Santa Clara University School of Law, Hillary - J.D. Yale Law, '73 and Barry - J.D. Harvard '91) have determined a legal action, and Ham said WTF? we're going and got the hook. The investigation of the lavish spending of his AFRICOM predecessor is interesting - has run 17 months and still pending with Panetta (a disposition no doubt coming after the elections) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_E._Ward Do these things always take that long? Curious. |

He hasn't even been in command 2 years yet. He is being relieved. The only real question is why. For comparison, Kip Ward had 3 1/2 years in command. 3 years for a cocom is fairly standard (curious what the actual average is for geo-COCOMs.) Good question. I looked at the UCC histories, threw it all into Excel and here are the averages (USSOUTHCOM data was not readily available, acting commanders with short terms, i.e. a few days or month or so were not included, and current commanders were also not included as their terms are not complete) Here's what I came up with for averages: EUCOM - 4.082 years AFRICOM - 3.436 years USSOCOM - 3.025 years USPACOM - 3.006 years USSTRATCOM - 2.714 years USTRANSCOM - 2.667 years CENTCOM - 2.477 years USNORTHCOM - 2.197 years USSOUTHCOM When I take the average of all the commanders, I come up with 3.0305 years, so Sylvan's guess was pretty close Depending on when Rodriguez assumes command, Ham will likely be well under the average, having started 3/8/11. I'm guessing a quick confirmation for Rodriguez, and maybe a change-over in February or thereabouts? General Ham's assignments are in the Wiki, haven't seen much (good or bad) from those who worked with/for him. |
|
I'm sure Panetta knows much more about deploying combat troops than Ham.
What he meant was,'we had an illegal op going down, that we didn't make Ham privy to, it went bad and we need everybody to burn" |
