I'd like to see how it does through denim.

In terms of penetration, I can tell you that in the case  of coyote hunting, you are at a disadvantage if you're not using plated #4 buck.
I'm sure plated buck performs better through denim also.

With almost anything else I'd say it wouldn't matter but heavy clothing might just make a difference in this case. I may retest with four layers of denim.

This video was taken last week. I'll be posting another video tonight or tomorrow that was taken Sat.

But yeah, beautiful weather lately.

Thank you for the compliment.

It has been a proven deer load.  Shot shells kill by multiple wound paths, not by lucky golden BBs hitting critical areas.   This means pattern density is crucial, a few blue whistlers in an open pattern is far from ideal.

Does this mean you would favor #4 buck or prefer something heavier?

Oh my, I don't think my shoulder can have more fun.  Twice the pellet count?  Shot string measured in light years?

I've said it before.
If you don't think a shotgun is a viable and effective home defense weapon, than you don't know shit about shotguns.
If you think your shotgun is superior to your AR for home defense, than you don't know shit about ARs.

Shotgun threads around here always turn into TardCon.

1050 ft/sec.  The 3-1/2" magnum was designed for steel which is less dense.  Throwing 2-7/16 ounces requires slower velocity.  It will throw 2 ounces at 1400 ft/sec.

+1

I know a AR is better for humans, but history has shown living were I do I am far far more likely to use my HD gun on vermin than humans

.A shotgun with #1 splits the difference nicely and makes hitting small scurrying creatures much easier than a rifle , and will work on a meth head burgler in a pinch

Hence the OP made mention of those of us that grew up shooting and hunting with a shotgun is the reason a lot of us are very comfortable using one.
And using one very well.
On the other hand it's very hard to argue about a lightweight short carbine with far less recoil loaded with 30 rounds of very fast moving 55 grain projectiles called bullets coming your way with a reload effort of just a mere movement away.
Personally I would be very happy to have either if the shit hit the fan.
