A shot in the dark.
Purchased in Fort Bridger, Wy.

Supposedly made by a guy in Idaho. His wife makes the sheath.
No markings of any kind.

Anyone recognize this knifemaker?

Ouch!

The wife got me a Paki knife, fancy sheath, Damascus, everything.

When I wasn’t as excited as she thought I should be I had to let her down with the “I very much appreciate the thought, and don’t take this the wrong way; but it’s Paki tourist merch”

I looked on the map and I couldn't find Idaho, Pakistan.

OP didn’t bother to comment huh.
I hope he didn’t learn too expensive of a mistake.    Just a note.
Any custom knife will have some sort of makers mark.  Like anything else there are forgeries, but no mark at all is rare.

I don't mark my knives. I just mark the sheaths.

You are right, of course, as most people do, but it happens. Any time you buy damascus, it should have a makers mark.

These have creeped all over the gunshows (damascus knives) with the usual stories of my son makes them or my husband does etc.

Last week, we went to Salado, TX to walk around and Christmas shop.  There was a guy with a case of that Paki crap set up.  Had a big U.S. flag and patriotic signage, and a big "Veteran Owned, Veteran Made Knives".  Dude gave me a spiel about how he was a twenty year marine that got into knifemaking when he left, and then his buddy, a twenty year air force guy teamed up and they make these knives.  I was pissed, but not going to make a scene with my wife and inlaws there.

Why wouldn't you mark the knife?  It's not unreasonable to think that the knife itself could last 100 years but the sheath probably won't.

The native Americans at the Four Corners are selling chinese garbage.  Each table had the same "native made" crap.  An example being black beads sold as hematite.

You know OP, it's still a good looking little knife and sheath.

I made knives as a hobby for awhile. I didn’t mark them, but they were never for sale.   If I were to ever start back I would.

Unfortunately many of previous posters got it correct. I have several  unmarked handmade knives, but no damascus ones. An unmarked knife doesn't necessarily indicate poor quality or poor materials you have to handle& eyeball it(although you can't judge steel by this method) was set up @ a Texas gunshow in 2015 (they stuck us in the cheap seats) next to a liar w/ 8 tables of the "budget import damascus knives" swore up & down he made them all lol.....never went back to that show..but did purchase a knife from the Texas Knifemakers Guild. Their show was set up in the nect hall.

Could be worse. You might have purchased a fake big name knife from eBay that was made in China.

There are so many of those out there now, it’s sad.

My dad showed me a knife his wife got for helping someone at a show.  It was handmade damascus, found it on eBay shortly after.

He couldn’t stop laughing. I enjoyed the laughter. Free knife is still free though

At least it was cheap.

Not as cheap as the $20 foreign blades, but it is excellent quality... No defects in craftsmanship.

I gifted it to one of my kids, as I do most of my blades.

I'm sure some of them are actually pretty good quality.  The problem is the liars passing them off as custom/hand made.

I always wonder about the "custom" handmade knives sold at gun shows.
