We have all been there where we build a gun around one part. Somewhere I have a stainless gas block with the front sight from a full auto shorty. If I want to make an SBR A-team clone, do any current Minis have a barrel that would fit this gas block?

Far as I know all modern Minis have a thicker profile under the gas block. So you'd have to use an older pencil barrel Mini.
Alternatively, Sampson (the sidefolder guys) makes the upper gas block piece with the front sight for modern Minis. |

You may be able to relieve the inside areas of the two halves to fit the larger diameter barrel. I’ve been contemplating doing something similar with one of those new factory folders since they already come equipped with the proper gas block and then use a Samson top half.

You will need at least a 181 series mini-14 for this. Any Mini-14 that has the rear sight shown in the image below would be correct for an AC556K

I have wondered why Ruger has never introduced a pistol version of the mini with that style sight.
Other big 556 platform rifle mfrs like FN have made pistol variants - Ruger is just not interested. Add a short barrel, remove stock, leave grip and some 1913 rail for brace options or add a tailhook to their legendary folder |
