Picked up 8#s of h110 for a normal price. I dont shoot much magnum pistol stuff but I was down to 1 lb and figured I might as well pick up some up. Now the only thing I'm trying to get is srp's. I have 5-10k of literally all the other types of primers but right b4 all the craziness happened, I made around 4k 556 and now I just have 1 box left

Ordered 5k BR4 primers. The primer fort has been rebuilt and should last through at least EOY.

After 10+ years of faithful service, my Frankford Arsenal Quick-N-EZ case tumbler is dying.
I took it out of service last night and employed my Dillon tumbler, which historically I have not liked as well. Cleaned and polished 250 pieces of .45ACP brass. Also improved my powder coating process using the Eastwood Ford Light Blue PC. Coated a couple hundred 9mm bullets with great success. I plan to coat some more tonight. |

Bought 10 boxes of TSX bullets.

did another batch of .223 in the FART.
I have 3 gallons of mixed once fired and non-once fired brass and was going to sort it. Hard to tell what's what. So decided I'll size it all, wet tumble it all, then sort it. This allows me to see if the primer pockets crimped = once fired or reamed = one of my reloads Noticed that .223 brass gets shorter after it's fired, weird. I was using case length as another clue to sort once vs non-once fired and shrinking doesn't help |

I've been buying powder, bullets, brass, primers, and die sets for a couple years now.
I never reloaded a single round. Today, I ordered a Dillon 550C. Did I fuck up? |

Went the range and emptied about 50rnds of 9mm and tested my 77gr OTM 262 clones against my 62gr FMJ loads for Cola Warrior. Either will work for the distances in APR.
Picked up at least 5x or more in brass compared to what I shot, maybe 10x even in 9mm brass. FARTed 15lbs of brass. |

I spent some time messing around with my 5.45x39 stuff. In the 5.45x39 Load Development thread we were discussing shell holders.
Seems that Hornady has a very specific shell holder for this round, their #56. But (hurray!!!) both Hornady and Dillon 9mm shell plates fit fine. And Lee’s #19 (9mm) shell holder fits too. My RCBS 9mm shell holder doesn’t (quite) fit, but given the number of alternatives, the near-Unobtainium quality of Hornady’s #56 shell holder, and NO progressive shell plate “for” 5.45, are neither one a big obstacle. |

I deprimed 319 .223/5.56mm cases. Yes, there's a story about the number, and it's this guy:
Attached File Yeah, I ain't loading that one! These were the rest of my range pick ups that had just been sitting, taking up space. They included about 150 crimped PMC cases. Which was a bummer. The primers in those PMC cases deform, but don't pop out with my Harvey Deprimer. (Maybe I should contact Harvey about this...) So I got out the old Lee Universal Decapping die, set up the Rock Chucker, and punched these uncooperative primers out. Much messier to the press than I like, so I cleaned the crap out/off of the press right afterward. Another issue with the Harvey Deprimer was a group of 5 IMG cases. They stick on the Harvey's pin because they have undersized flash holes. Or they did. I opened them up with my Lyman flash hole deburring tool, so now they are like all the rest. Too bad I didn't think to look out for this headstamp once the first one stuck... |

Unreloaded some .223 in the Aug, 4th range trip no cleaning in between, worked flawlessly
Put 10 six rd mags from my G43 CCW piece Put 20 mags through my Glock 20, it was 10mm appreciation day! Attached File Most of these were LRN projectiles. Had a few failures to fire but they went bang on second and one took a 3rd try. I think the firing pin channel is gunked up, had that happen on the G21. But the best thing about today's range trip reloading related, I had the best brass score ever. 9mm and .223 everywhere! Attached File For the first time ever I had leave some on the ground Ran out of time but not before I got a mega load. Note the brass, range doesn't really have dirt, more like sand, but the brass gets stomped into the sand and it's messy. When you pick up a case you get sand all over your fingers. So when I got home I washed it in a big tub with water and Dawn Attached File Used water hose and put in another tub to sort of get rid of most of the sand and suds as much as possible. Then I used my Dillon media separator to spin dry it best I could. Then laid on a towel to air dry. Look at all that brass Attached File |

I did some research. Seems I wound up with 19 “NPA 5.56” cases, and I wanted to know what I had.
So far, I can’t tell if this is the not-so-good brass made for Olympic by Iraq, or maybe the Taiwan Police stuff. All I know at the moment is that these cases were in great shape when I collected them, and definitely once fired. Mysterious, but only mildly distracting. Up next: more wet tumbling. I have around 400 deprimed .223 cases that need to be de-filthed so I can move ahead with them. And as noted earlier, either process them further or cut my losses and add them to the scrap bin. Edit to correct typo: |

Yesterday’s plan for tumbling brass fell through; I was hurting too much to get the materials together to do the job.
However with all the work I’d done finding and depriming that brass, I wound up with several of my old cashew jars filled with dirt and grime from the range brass. So I figured I could do something about that; I washed the jars thoroughly. While I was at it, I noticed that I a bunch of those jars still had their original product labels. The labels aren’t a big deal, but they make it harder to see what’s in the jar at a glance. So I grabbed the first three jars with labels that I saw and removed the labels. I soak them in warm water for an hour or so to get the majority of the paper off, then I use a citrus oil goo-remover (De-SolveIt is what I have now) and a Scotchbrite pad to get the remnants off. A quick wash with Dawn to get the oily residue off, and I have clean, unlabeled jars. I have a number of jars “on deck” to get the labels off of when I can. I did get shipping information from Hornady on my replacement .223 sizing die. It should be here Wednesday. |

Tumbled all my .30 carbine, back to .223
Have two types of .223 brass - once fired and non-once fired. Plan to weed out all the once fired and hawk it on EE when done sorting the two. For the non-once fired I already have about 2 large Tidy Cat buckets of brass that's been dry tumbled and sized. It was dry tumbled before I bought the large FART. Anyway, here's some once fired .223 fresh off the dehydrator, rain threatened so couldn't let it dry out in the sun this time: Attached File Other major accomplishment was dialing in the powder measure to toss 4.9 gr Red Dot my for 45ACP 230 gr LRN loads. Made about 60 rounds. They're pretty, using wet tumbled 45 brass. All the primers are seating perfectly, just below flush like they should be thanks to the clean primer pockets |

I got all wound up in finding those jars and stripping labels off of them, and spent quite a bit of time on that. In the process, I decided to completely change my whole equipment/tool/brass storage set up.
I’m probably not the only one who’s stuff accumulated and “got put away” without a grand plan. (I hope it’s not just me. ). But that’s how stuff has happened, and now it’s a royal pain to get at a lot of stuff, particularly my dies and brass stash. So I’m basically taking everything off of my wire shelf units (the small one (14x24x30) with rifle brass stored on it, and the BIG one (18x48x60) with tools, dies and (a lot of) “stuff”), and I’m going to actually plan where stuff will go for practical accessibility. For the moment, the small shelf unit with handgun brass will stay that way. It has my smallish Craftsman toolbox on top of it, and its location is both out of the way and handy. But it’s not necessarily safe from being reworked at some point. My loading room is the smallest room in the house, about 10x11 (it has an angled wall with pretty much just the door), so it really, really needs to be organized for efficiency. Fortunately, my darling wife - who could have been a fantastic loadmaster if she hadn’t been in avionics (and then a nurse) - is going to help me figure this out. |

I forgot to mention that Hornady got my .223 sizing die back to me yesterday. Those guys are great. The only down side was that they got it packed and ready to ship on Friday, so I had to wait for FedEx to pick it up on Monday, then truck it down to me. And here I am complaining about waiting on something that was totally free for me.
They only had to polish it - which did get rid of the scratches I could feel with a fingernail. It looks like they replaced the expander rod collet too. I hope to get the “organization” stuff I’m doing more out of the way so I can get back to sizing brass sometime soon. |
