I have a S&W lever action 1854, in .44 Mag, on the way.

What rounds are OK to fire through it, with my AAC Ti-Rant .45, full size model?

Any factory load .44 Special I'd say, as those are the same or weaker than .45 ACP.

I'm hesitant to fire off a .44 Mag through it, as that's a huge step up in power and pressure.

Are older style .45 pistol suppressors OK to fire with .44 Mag, or probably not, and I'd need a rifle or hybrid style 45 cal can to use with Magnum loads?

Subs only.

Same principle as with the 300bo thru the tirant

What I figured, and the 300 BO is a good analogy.

I don’t know if you have a legacy or current model, but the manual currently on their site suggests to me that the current 45M can use full-power .44 mag from a 16” barrel.

I have the older, non-modular version.  I don't know if that makes a difference.

I'll just shoot 44 Special rounds from it and not take the chance.

IQ Munitions makes some 400gr 44mag subsonic rounds. Running them through an 1954 with our Lunar 45 tomorrow!

The Ti-Rant 45 baffles have more of an "X" cross section that the "K" shape used in the Ti-Rant 9. As such, they are a good bit stronger than the K. With that said, I'd stick with sub .44 mag or one of the many subsonic .44 special loads. I recall them sounding really good through the Ti-Rant 45 on a threaded Marlin.

With proper upgraded stainless or Ti parts, you wouldn't be able to hurt it with the hottest .44 mag loads.   That means baffles, front cap, and possibly booster housing (some OEM housings are aluminum, some are steel)

Are you capable of doing recores like that on the older Tirant 45?

I vaguely remember asking online about recoring it years ago so that it could take hot 10mm loads, but I can't find a record of who I asked or where. (Presuming here that hot 10mm and hot .44 mag are in the same ballpark.)

If you can recore that, then great! I'll have to get that process started.
