I own a ProTech TR-5 and a MT UTX-85. Both have been flawless. Looking for another quality folder though. Considering a Microtech LUDT but not wild about the shape of handle.

What else besides Benchmade and Spyderco Autonomy 2?

I like my LUDT, but it’s a chunk.  Fires hard.  Handle is actually pretty comfortable.

That is really what I'm leaning towards. May consider one of the USA made Kershaw options though.

When you say it's a chunk, is it thicc or just the blade shape that gives it that feel?

Protech Godson is slick, 3.25" blade, unobtrusive in the pocket.

They make a ton of pretty ones too, must be 20 different styles.

Sorry for not getting back to you on your question.  When I said it’s a chunk, I mean everything is heavy duty.  Scales, blade, spring - everything. You really feel it when you open it - fires with authority.  Day I got mine, wife tried it (she’s used other switchblades I have), and it flew out of her hand, landing blade down.  All it did was chip the slate tile - no damage to the blade.

Just got it in. Mustang Tactical was great to deal with. Owner is AD Navy I believe.

Can’t believe how light it is for a knife of this size, especially an auto.

Probably USA. IIRC, most Bokers are. My vote would have been a Boker + Burnley Auto Kwaiken. I have one and I’ll likely get another when it is time for a new knife. This is the fancier smooth aluminum handle version. Fires out very hard. Solid lockup. Sharp as hell. Stabby stabby point.

That’s a big negative. I looked into them. Taiwan.

In fact, I can’t think of any Boker made in USA. They at least make some Germany…if that isn’t blatantly obvious by their name. Most are made in China.

For the money, the Kershaw blems are great. US made and under $100 delivered. Blade on mine is CPM 154.

Yeah, I forget that a lot of knife makers do collabs. I know ProTech well enough that if their name is on it…it’s American made.

I’m really liking this Microtech LUDT but ProTech still makes the best OTS autos on the market. I have beat the absolute crap out of my PT TR-5.

I have several benchmade. However, I bought a few of these with D2 steel. I was impressed with the snappy spring, great edge retention, and overall quality of the knife. I gave several as gifts and they have all been used and holding up well.

The D2 was not bad to sharpen using a spyderco triangular sharpening set.

Interesting. I hope to never experience that.

I’ve carried mine daily for over a year and have never had an accidental discharge. I usually have a Bic lighter and keys in my pocket.
