Can someone please detail out the process/costs associated with selling a suppressor and transferring it to another private party?

I don’t think you can do it that way. You gotta transfer to a dealer and the dealer transfer it to the buyer.

I believe it requires 2 transfer stamps.

Don’t quote me on that though

Residents of the same state doesn't require a dealer. Seller submits form 4 and when it's approved the buyer can take possession. Different states requires seller to transfer on a form 4 to a dealer in the buyer's state. There will be two taxes required in that situation, one to the dealer and another from the dealer to the buyer.

If seller and the buyer are in the same state; buyer completes and receives approval for a Form 4...then seller hands him the suppressor.

The seller would only need to transfer to a dealer if the buyer is in another state.

Same state, you’ll be limited to paper Form 4s for individual to individual.

Walkthrough

Form 4 generator

Out of state. It’ll go through a dealer and require 2 Form 4s and 2 taxes paid.

I assume the seller pays one tax and the buyer pays the other?

That, like the terms of payment, usually comes down to the terms of the sale I believe.

That's the typical arrangement, yes.

It's rare that anybody sells used suppressors out-of-state, and they're usually priced low hoping to get an in-state sale, unless you've got something like a KAC that's highly sought after.

I have an in-state buyer; I am the seller. Who submits the Form4? Can it be an eForm4?

Thanks. But I need their prints?

And the questionnaire should be answered by me or the transferee?

Yes, and their photos.

You can do some PDF editing and print photos with/on the form, if you want.

Transferee

RP forms too, if it's a trust.

Can I ship this to the buyer via one of the common carriers or will it need to be FTF?

Thanks all. I think I'm just going to smash this thing in celebration of all our great freedoms.

It'd need to ship via common carrier, but they'll only agree to insure it if you're an FFL with one of their "special arrangement" shipping contracts. So maybe pay an FFL for the shipping label, if they offer that.

Does shipmygun.com work for silencers? Idk
