Anyone know anything about Mission?  I just bought one the the original first 100 MPTs.  It has the plain handle without the groves.  The price dropped to $375 so I fo'd.  I've handled one once and they are shockingly light for the size.

Congrats! They're a good design. I actually have two of their A2 steel 5" blade MTPs (can't recall the model number). I also have their "MPF", titanium folder. You'll find the steel takes a weird edge and it will cut, but I also feel like it needs to be sharpened.

In 2003 both my kids were deployed to Iraq.  Both were Marines, one First Division the other Second Division.  Some of the gear they were issued was pretty poor.  The knives were in deplorable condition.  I bought both MPK-Ti's.  I ran into a problem.  I could only locate one.  So I called Mission and spoke directly to the owner and explained that my kid was shipping out soon and I wanted to get him a knife.  Before my youngest shipped out he had his knife.  

The lightness was appreciated as every ounce counts when you have to carry the amount of stuff they did.  Both carried those knives through three deployments each.  As an aside, a few years later they bought me one.  Mine will likely never see what theirs did but it's one of the last I'll ever get rid of.

No apology needed,  thanks for the photo, yours is just like mine.  I collect earlier Missions Knives, I recently picked up this
OD colored MPT, but can find no information on it in my reference or the Web.  Do you have any background on these?  I
do not believe they were a general sales knife, but maybe a special order??

It’s been a while, but I do believe they were a special make in early 2000s. I did get mine straight from Mission.

Thanks, I "think" that I remember they were a special run for a Euro or Asian contract, but I can find nothing in print.
