I was bored today and digging through some old "HK" parts.

Came across this bolt that has no engravings on it. Took it apart and it has this odd roller retainer plate too.

Anyone have any information on this?

Roller plate is old school. LP being #16 is 110 deg which is no longer made and was for K guns. Bolt head has the newer cuts for action 3. All look like they were bead blasted at some point but the original HK markings would still be visible. Lends me to believe they are not OG. Maybe someone else more knowledgeable will chime in?

Edit:  good read Here

No, definitely not HK or RCM.

Looks like pot metal.

I don't remember where I got it. But I'm curious as to what it is. Are there that many aftermarket HK stuff?

And the hole for the retainer plate pin is off from my HK bolts.

Note the offset in the actual retainer plate...

Odd version

That’s my guess based on the MIM extractor.

I'm assuming you guys are correct.

I've searched high and low on the old web. Can't find anything.

Was parts back then hard to come by, not available?

I've read the stories about folks like Todd Bailey and Getz (spelling?), but that was really before my time getting into the HK platform.

Thats a TB bolt head I believe

My American Atlantic Arms K has the same which I believe TB parts were sourced

Its got that stupid retainer thats unlike any others

I imagine a batch was drilled wrong and the modding the retainer was an easier fix

Mines ran good its entire life for what its worth using that head

That's good info.

I just may keep it available for a spare.

I dislike the proprietary retainer. Seems like once if/when it goes out, no more will be found.

Yeah looks like it is proprietary to the TB bolts. Bummer.

Here's the scoop on HK roller retainer variants from Tailflash on HKPro:
Here are the three different size roller retainer 'slots'; yours is the middle (legacy 1st Gen) version that as @bauerdb said, takes the wide retainer plate (200449). I've had two of these plates break during range trips. The bolt on the right is the latest 3rd Gen version found in SP5/MP5F that takes the small plate (214333). The bolt on the left takes those goofy 2nd Gen 'Action 3' wavy spring wire type retainers (221125).

These are the same bolts as above: ID=Action 3/Gen 2........IH= Gen 1.......BC=Gen 3:
Strange that the face cut on the oldest (ID) Bolt has the same cut as the recent (BC) Bolt...

From top left, 2nd gen (plate), 1st gen (wire), then F at lower right.

I remember a thread once here where a guy was looking for that retainer

I think atlantic got him hooked up. He also had an atlantic gun

Its my oldest roller gun. Its been trucking coming up on a decade.

A guy could maybe weld up an original and recut. I suppose thats my plan outside having some monies burning a hole in my pocket for a new bolt.

Why couldn't the wire style retailer pictured above be used?  The wire looks thin enough to go around the offset roll pin.

I have some, I'll have to play with the idea when I get a minute.

However, I have a feeling there'll be too much play from side to side. Allowing the rollers to fall out.

Also, the track that the retainer plate slides into, on this odd ball, unknown bolt, it's as wide as the Gen 1 HK bolts. Where as the gen 2 that takes the wire retainer is a more narrow slot. But not as narrow as the gen3.
