Since this is contract overrun will it have the auto parts installed in the upper to run auto on a transferable lower?

Anyone got more photos of the SURG in the wild?

My dealer mentioned they may be arriving this week. I tried contacting Sig directly, but no dice.

Theyre coming.  Late?  Absolutely.  Been a few things going on that caused some delays...

Bauer just updated their ETA to May.

I really don't get why it's taking so long to fulfill SURG pre-orders when Sig has been releasing a metric ton of new products over the past 5 months.

My dealer mentioned his Sig rep has been saying they're submitting the form 3s for the past 3 months now lol.

Yeah, that was the plan from the initial solicitation. The cage can be removed (three screws in the front).

Mine is en route to my FFL.  Big question is, do I attach it to my Colt lower as intended, or get a Sig FDE anodized MCX lower?

I'm on the fence with getting one of these.
Its a cool piece of history, legitimate socom issue and will only go up in value unless Sig decides to release more.

Just a tough price to swallow. You have to pay to play I guess though.

Do we know how many Sig made available for civilian sales and shipped out to dealers?

You'll have to swap out the recoil spring buffer plate if you want to put it on a MCX lower.

Correct. As these were contracted to run on M4 lowers the plate is just a touch too long to fit into an MCX lower. but fits an M4 style lower perfectly.

This is the part that you need in order to get it to run on an MCX:

From what I understand, these are a one batch deal, of military overruns.  I know for a fact Proven Outfitters has one unclaimed upper kit, that someone back out on.

It's anodized, mine came in today and had the Form 4 submitted.  The barrel, charging handle, forward assist, and dust cover are anodized or painted in Coyote.

Another interesting feature, there's a heat shield installed on the bottom of the hand guard, also in Coyote.  The suppressor is torqued on tight, I wasn't able to remove it, and take home the upper separately.

Yes, but again- in order to function on ANY MCX you need the part below.
https://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/prod/kit-mcx-ops-spring
https://www.sigsauer.com/sig-mcx-operating-springs-assembly.html
https://osagecountyguns.com/firearm-accessories/pistol-rifle-parts-kits/firearm-parts/sig-sauer-mcx-opearting-spring-assembly-kit.html

It's an easy swap. The one that is in the upper will only fit when using an M4 style lower. It's slightly too long for an MCX. That all makes since because SURG was developed for SOCOM to run on M4 lowers, not MCX's.

Only items I noticed that were ceracoated on mine were the silencer and the barrel.

And yeah, it was torqued on pretty good. I blamed the tapered barrel/ silencer. There was no rocksett or threadlocker. I locked in in a set of soft jaws and put a breaker bar on it and it popped right off.

Can you confirm if if left hand thread?  Someone just told me it was.  Wouldnt really make sense to do that now when its been right hand for mcx up to now.

Why do we have to modify for full auto? Wasn't this upper supposed to fit right on an M4A1 lower, with the lower adapter ofcourse?

I didn't see if it had the auto sear trip in the upper as delivered either, have to assume it was or one was installed.

I was tempted by the SURG kit the EuroOptic had on sale for ~$3500 this weekend.  It looks like they raised it back up to ~$4100 again this morning.

Well was looking at higher end AR builds and stumbled onto a SURG local shop had an extra.  Waiting on lots of paperwork now for lots of SIG projects it seems.

That is a Wilson Lower but really thinking about picking up another one or if I pull apart my old M4 roll mark LE Colt 6920 and use that for the Form 1.

Tossed on another thread protector (36M) and the other handguard.

@coregon

So he's saying this comes with a Virtus BCG that won't run full auto and you have to use one of the new LT BCGs to get it full auto. That makes zero sense. If these are true overruns and they obviously installed the sear trip then why would they send a BCG that wasn't sent out in the mil guns? Is it they just won't run with the G SSF? Which is also confusing because are the SSF triggers also not in use w the lowers these could get installed on?

Also, if they are contract overruns they should have chrome lined barrels. Is that the case? Or are they unlined civilian barrels?

Making progress one step at a time, now just awaiting the form 1 to ditch the brace.

This is mostly in relation to the Trigger he is using and compatibility as far as I can tell if you run a standard Mil Spec trigger it doesn't matter but some of the match triggers can't move the Spear Firing Pin safety from what I understand, which is what he is running.

He swaps out the bolt as the older one didn't have the firing pin safety.

He said he was using the G SSF trigger with the BCG having the G latch, so why would a standard auto trigger work and the SSF not? I though the G latch allowed for any trigger to work while the S latch required the specific MCX trigger.

This is what I was trying to figure out as well, but to be fair some info in Alex's video seemed really off.

All SURG BCGs come with the 'A' marked full auto latch.

Thanks! Then yes it seems like he did not try it on his auto lower or his lower is not setup to MIL Spec.
