I now know that the following are valid reasons to want to build a supressor.
- Chicks Dig Silence - Addicted to Whisper Pickles - Testing to find out which is more satisfying - Length or Girth - Test the maxim "Anything can be a dildo if you're brave enough" |

I'm getting a little frustrated with them lately. I think tomorrow will be 8 weeks on my oldest submittal. |

On form 1 suppressors what is and is not okay to buy? Can you still buy form 1 kits? I’ve been interested in giving it a go and sending it to ecco to clean it up after I finish. But I don’t even know where to start. How do you get the threads in the end for mounting systems?

Can I do a form 1 and after it’s approved buy stuff and get the tube? What can I do? I wanted to make an octane 45 clone. But have no idea where to start. |

View Quote Kits are done, you need a Lathe to make one. If you were planning to send it to Ecco, might as well just have them or someone make you a custom one and Form 4 it. I did a Form 1 can that's a clone of a YHM R9, it's wasn't that much cheaper than buying an R9 not counting my labor. ETA: My Octane 45K is least favorite pistol can. I got it BOGO. |

Freeze plugs can do a better job than you might expect, but they are heavy and VSR's need some work with a drill press (or lathe) for the best results. And there was that one guy that made an UZI suppressor out of square stock and angle iron . . . |

If you say a maglite and freeze plugs I think it will be denied. There also use to be thread adapters for oil filters. |

There also use to be thread adapters for oil filters. You can still buy tubes, mounts, end caps, and "cups". While companies shouldn't be selling "kits", all those other parts are still available and gtg. No, it's smarter to form1, then send to SOT vs form4 a custom. Wait times! You don't need to tell the ATF "how you're going to make it". You can simply state "in a lawful manner". Same as question 4i. Specify why you intend to make firearm. Doesn't need a "real response". Oil filter thread adapters are still sold and, AFAIK, still legal. |

Others have said once they summit they get a reply that addition info is needed for how they plan to make it. Some sent a picture of a lathe or a bar napkin design drawing. You're replying to that with in a lawful manner? |

Not only have I filed my own, but I've helped others, too.
Several different wordings, but all to the effect of "All laws to be adhered to, following form approval". Never once have I listed materials, vendors, equipment, etc. @AR_Dale |

Last time I was submitting via eforms it did have some BS asking to add pics and documentation regarding the kit vs built thing. I just logged on to look and I cannot find that section anymore, or any evidence that I submitted the word doc or pic I know I uploaded. Either I'm losing it or they removed that crap (or both).

That's what many were saying when this started in 2020. It's still in there. I submitted another one Friday and it wouldn't let me advance from the line item page until I uploaded a file with documentation of the build process. They are wanting pictures of the parts/materials and written description. I just uploaded a word document that said something like "building from raw materials, nothing purchased yet", then it let me submit. Last time I took a picture of the pile of bar stock I had. I'm hoping they done rejecting applications with no legal basis but who knows. |

I'm pretty sure both of you are right. They still require the details during submission, but after approval I can't find the supporting info I uploaded. I mean, they can't make it too easy for us to stay consistent with what we've attested as truth on a federal form...

I have 2 that just went over 5 months..and a couple more that are like 1-2 months. These cocksuckers should have some reasonable time limit like with the 4473. |
