Might have to inlet the stock a touch, but I don't think I will. Use the rear leaf sight dovetail to mount an old Trijicon red dot sight I've had laying around for a long time. Turns out the dovetail on an S&W M&P rear sight is pretty close...rear dovetail optics plate ordered that I can mill off a few thousands to make it fit. I might end up custom making something from scratch, but $22 on Amazon is worth a shot in the dark. Finally, Tech Sight makes an adjustable rear sight that fits the 11mm dovetail of the receiver. I'm playing with the idea of getting a real M1 Carbine rear sight, and milling a new dovetail in the rear of the receiver...I'll have to see how that would measure up. I might do something crazy, and mount QD flush cups in the stock for a sling. Anyways...I just though it would be a cool little fun toy. And, if anyone has a spare 452 Scout stock laying around and wants to sell it, I'd be interested. https://i.imgur.com/xtZ3GZG.jpg View Quote So damn beautiful I want a spare 452 scout to do that to |

I was able to locate a spare stock from a nice gentleman on Rimfire Central.
I have an idea of how to create a 'take down' stock that I want to play with, so I needed a spare. If my takedown idea works, I'm also going to refinish and paint the stock black, maybe some gray splatter like a HS Precision painted stock....maybe something different, I don't know...I'm just having fun with the project. The standard wood stock I have on the rifle now is getting dual sided QD flush cups on the rear and a threaded Grovtech QD flush cup on the forend bottom. I'm going to use an M1 Carbine sling...which should look cool. |

I should buy an old single shot 22, chop it down to 10 in and thread it, have it drilled and tapped for bases and do the QD cups like you have done.
It would be an awesome “bang around” rifle |

That’s a very cool project. I’ve got a 452 with the 16” threaded barrel and it’s very handy (and quiet) with a can. The factory thread was an odd size though so I did need to use an adapter

I have secured a spare/backup stock from a nice guy on RimfireCentral.
I have two ideas I want to try out: 1. A take-down stock. I need to find a good way (or a gunsmith shop...or a stock maker....if anyone knows anyone, please let me know) to drill a long 12" hole into the stock, at a specific angle so I can try out an idea for a QD socket take-down idea. 2. One or two refinishing/repainting ideas. I'm open to ideas, let me know what you got! |

eForm1 approved today. 22 days, not to shabby for .gov workers.
Now, it's off to be cut, threaded, and machined for the M1 Carbine front sight. |

Great full service shop (general gunsmith, CNC optic cuts for slides, Cerakote, etc) local to me that does a ton of gunsmithing work from all over. They've done excellent work for me over the years. And a 12 minute drive from my house, so I've got that going for me....which is nice. |

Why not go with 5" barrel? That should keep most HV ammo subsonic, and be shorter OAL.

I don't like the look, I don't like the stock inletting it would require, and the shortest OAL isn't my goal. I like the look better, and I only shoot subsonic ammo. |

Just shoot sub sonic ammo...then it will always be sub sonic. Problem solved.

One of the reasons I like my little SR22 is that bulk pack stays subsonic. When ammo was crazy and it was all close to the same price it made less difference. Hopefully it gets backs to all being cheaper. |

I've also reconsidered the M1 carbine sights...I'm leaning towards flat topping the rear 11mm dovetail and direct mounting a Holosun 407K. For those of you who are interested in the velocity lost;
Ammo Type FPS Avg 16" FPS Avg 8.5" Delta CCI Standard 1048 1012 -36 Remington Sub Sonic 1085 1016 -69 Federal Auto Match 1190 1177 -13 Not too bad for losing half the barrel length. CCI Standard will be the ammo I use for this rifle. |

Very durable. Test it out on a 2x4 to get your spray distance correct. Start further away than you think you should. Texture improves with distance. Let it cure for several days after spraying. |
