Someone texted me a picture of a Nefarious sold / marketed double picatinny Mk11 M110 style block today.  I don't know if it's an SR25 cartel part or a Nefarious part, but that part was around $400, and in the white, however available.  I don't know if they made it in stainless and that's why it's being sold in the white or what.  Hopefully it's stainless, because carbon steel without a finish isn't ideal.

At this point I think a roll your own upper is like $2100 including $400 gas block, $200 gas block assembly service charge, plus rail, muzzle device, and probably $100 for assembly.  It's not an ideal cost for the upper.

Unfortunately that's the current plan.  I think the form 3 time is ticking down so those should be available soon.

If we did a block there is just no way we would be charging $400.  That seems like an offensive price for a block, even with these blocks being as complex and high tolerance as they are with details like the little swiss turned dowel pins that literally stand in for the totally functional spirol coiled spring pin in the MK11 block.  I could see $240 or something maybe being what they cost in a short run format though, as they kind of have to be machined out of big square blocks of stainless steel due to the lack of formed bar stock and processes settup for mass production of the parts. They don't don't fit into a small diameter, so if you have a huge turning machine with a B head, they still come out of like 2.5" diameter bar stock in lieu of metal forms and with geometry getting milled because there is asymmetry, that's taking time to do.  

We are really busy doing a bunch of stuff that isn't in that direction, including just trying to make cans to supply the market.  I thought about kind of an EMC light block (on account of all the requests and people seeming to want cans without the right interfacing parts) where it would be like easier install and not completely a visual clone, but thinking about it, and having time to do it are two different things.  

Obviously we need to make another run of these cans for example and that's 9 machine settups before we get to baffles.  We are trying to hire more settup machinists to be able to turn over jobs faster.

It's not an emergency or anything, so I'm just trying to keep people who expressed interest, informed.  I'd prefer if the cans we made sold out over 3-4 months to give us more time consider restocking if the market situation warranted that.  Manufacturing is stupidly busy with manufacturing of more non niche inventory at the moment, and a couple development programs we're either actively working or trying to squeeze in.

Yeah that didn't go to plan.    We sold out of the MGL-110's in 9 minutes and the MGL-11's in about 22 minutes.  There still are some dealer units (60% of the manufactured units), I know Charlies Custom Clones has 15 M110's enroute, for example.  

The CS guys are going to open a spreadsheet and start a reservation list for units to try to better project a second run of units.

I don't have any experience doing business with them (this is our first sale to the company).  I hope that can be rectified.



This all started as a search for an M110 can at a reasonable price.  I actually thought maybe the thing might go over terribly and this something like $150,000 project might not sell at all in which case I would have paid 15 times the market price for the can.  If I had known it would go ok, it would have been relatively easy to increase production numbers.

Your question is about impossible to answer right now. The NFA lead times dropping from 3-9 months to one to three days was nothing we could predict.

If people can populate a reservation list with our cs team, that will help us better understand demand and make a more adequate quantity in the next run. I think time to the next run is likely to be ~3 months.

Those are cool rifles. It would be cool to hear one with the can sometime.  I had a friend from sniper school who was in 19th group SF and he said the gun sounded really nice with the can.

Glad we could connect on the project.  The interesting thing about the carbine can was that Zach at Mountains Mullets Merica and I both kind of felt it was the most impressive performer- nearly hanging with the M110 version but on a 16" barrel, and it is interesting it was a can that was never very available.  It so far has been the least demanded item.  

I appreciate the positivity of the customers and people in the gun industry.  We're over 50 employees now, and everyone is working hard and I appreciate their efforts.  It's cool the NFA is letting us sell some products at the present time.
