[Last Edit: BuckeyeRifleman]
Cleaning one of my silencerco cans I put in a little CLR in the mix with my pins and dishwashing detergent to clean the baffles. I’ve used CLR to soak muzzle devices, stainless barrels and sealed rifle cans without issue, so I figured it was fine for the baffles.

Turns out it seemed to take the gold finish off the baffles. I assume this finish is just cosmetic?

I’m not too worried about it, just wanted to make sure I didn’t do anything that would affect function.

The gold color is from heat treating. If you make them look stainless again, it's no big deal.

Did same thing with my oculus, put about 10-20% clr with water in my ultrasonic and most of the gold color came off, still works fine.
