Just read the entire thread. I am impressed with the marpat, surpat and the a-tacs fg.

I'd be really curious how well urban MARPAT or Propper Urban Digital does in various environments. I have a set of Propper Urban Digital (like this) and haven't had the chance to really use it. I picked it up because I live in a very urbanized area, but I'm thinking it may also blend in to thick vegetation and other areas with lots of shadows well, perhaps better than ACU or old school Woodland? Is this something anyone would be willing to test for us? Please? |

If one was pretty much starting from scratch, what would you get for the northeast that is nir compliant?

That is the best so far for this time of year.
Where did you get it?

wish they would get rid of the huge velcro patches

That might be the SOD Gear combat shirt. I have the Sabre Defence (German company) Smock, Jacket, and trousers, myself. It's an awesome pattern for the UK. |

Well, apart from the two thin velcro strips above the breast pockets on the combat shirt. The shirt only has covers for the arm ones. |

I am thinking about buying a set of BDU's. Who do you guys think is higher quality, Tru-Spec or Genuine Gear? Which is more comfortable? Which is more functional? Thanks.

Is it just me or do the tan/green boots really show up more than a black/brown pair? Something about them that draw my eye there in most of these pics.

I love the Pencott stuff it all works great but to me the Greenzone looks like German WW2 SS oak leaf camo scaled down in size.
Still want the Greenzone set none the less! |

Love the thread btw.
I have a test I'm hoping to do this summer up here in AK. I have some ATACS fabric, and am hoping to get a sample of ATACS FG to compare it to. I just need to figure out where to get it lol. Any recommendations? Once I lose some weight I'll buy an actual set of gear from propper and do an actual test. I just dont want to buy until I'm not a size fatass. |

Hawkeye, are there mfrs whose camo is known to be IR-suppressive/non-reflective, or, are there mfrs whose camo is known to not suppress and/or reflect IR?
IOW, which mfrs camo cloth meets GI specs for IR, and which mfrs clothing does not meet same specs? |

I cant say that for 100% certainty across the spectrum though. Maybe Uniformguy will chime in with something more concrete. I do know that (in my own experience) in regards to Poly/Cotton materials, just looking at them with a -14, some do significantly better than others. |

But I will say that my Propper SUD does not look that dark. Maybe its just from repeat washings or something though, because the pattern is definitely very similar. When I Googled Subdued Urban Digital, I came up with a lot of results but the truest representation I can find color-wise is of this Rothco t-shirt. |

Classic woodlands camo was better after a 2-3 washings once you got the deep back and greens slightly faded. I can't help but wonder if Kryptek will be the same and have a longer service life than MC with more washings before fade-out. |

Nobody gives a shit what you think.
Or what I think. osprey21 |
I bought all multicam gear and was convinced it worked great in all environments, but a friend took a picture of me working on somthing in multicam (in the pacific nw forest). There was a woodland jacket in the same picture. I was shocked how well i stood out in multicam and how well the woodland jacket worked.
I think the multicam still works very well in arid enviroments, but i am thinking of getting more woodland or marpat gear for the forest. |
