I came across a bunch of 50cal white hots. Can these be used in my 54cal Knight muzzleloader? My reloading experience tells me no since there will be gaps along the sides of the pellets which could accelerate the burn rate casing a significant pressure spike. But I’m here to ask the experts

Of course you can shoot them, hitting anything would be luck.  

I seem recall at one time there was some form of plastic jacket one could buy to use some subcaliber rounds in some calibers (like 45s in 50s).  Perhaps with a lot of searching you might find something.

I have 54 cal bullets, I was referring to the powder pellets.
