Can't wait to see the finished product! OP are you using any CNC equipment? View Quote Haha I was going to say welcome to the site but you've been here since '11 All i've got is an old Supermax (Bridgeport clone), an A-Trump toolroom lathe and a tiny, cheap desktop lathe. If I need something CNC engraved or something, I can bring it to work on a saturday and use our ancient Hurco in the toolroom... |

This is relevant to my interests.
...and I have CNC equipment. Doesn't look like an expensive build at all. |

View Quote Depends on your definition of expensive, I'll be into it for around $900 with the stamp, all said and done, but I started with all new components and a complete PTS kit, not just the conversion chassis. I'm sure I can sell the KWA parts off to recoup a little of that. |

I'll be watching this closely. And gathering donor parts. |

Is this in any way something somebody with patience Dykem and files and a micrometer could do if they really wanted to, maybe just sending the barrel to ADCO to be cut to the desired length and crowned? Or should I forget it? |

Is this in any way something somebody with patience Dykem and files and a micrometer could do if they really wanted to, maybe just sending the barrel to ADCO to be cut to the desired length and crowned? Or should I forget it? The hard part right now is finding the FPG chassis, they're discontinued and full kits are going for a premium. A lot of things are similar to the real thing, but you'll have to machine up some pretty complex little pieces for the fire control group and front inserts, unless you trust the airsoft MIM parts So far, my list is this, some are completed, some are not. -make new oversized slide stop -modify stock slide release lever -make front rail insert -make rear rail insert/housing for sear pack -make oversized locking block or bed in stock Glock piece -cut down extended barrel -modify charging handle slide for ~1/16" more forward stroke -file down the "rails" in the grip slightly for drop-free mags -stock notch/post sights on the original carry handle are crap, any AR optic would work on the rail but be less discreet. I'll probably notch the handle out for some better sights. If anything polymer fails, I'll just bite the bullet and mill up an aluminum replacement... |

That is looking great so far!
I spend most of my time on 2 other forums so I only lurk around here most of the time haha. Maybe it'll change some time. |

Yeah I didn't pay that... They've got the "last pallet in North America" of new guns so they keep jacking it up. You'd be surprised how close to the real thing a lot of modern airsoft is, dimensionally. Of course, functionally is another story. I've seen airsoft glocks converted to real guns, and I've seen one guy build a .22 FPG and another drop a glock slide on the crappy MIM metal parts in a FPG and get it fire and cycle, but he had issues and didn't seem that good at problem-solving. |

The Canadian dollar's performance over the past several months probably has something to do with it too. |

OP, what did you fill in on the form 1? I want one too!!! View Quote For manufacturer: FORM 1 REGISTRATION, UNITED STATES This is what they use for scratch builds and 80% builds. Everything else is up to you, since you're building from a non-firearm. Don't spend the money on a new one unless you've got the time/tools to recreate some important bits in steel. |
