Lots of ideas here I am going to steal like the plate welded to a garage door spring. If shooting fruit and veggies don't get hollow ones. Watermelons are great but pumpkins suck. I guess pumpkins full of water would help.

Started doing this also but with ice molds, have a freezer full of ice balls for drinking and shooting

if you buy 2 liters of soda just fill them with water and food coloring. Potted plant containers are fun. Also check out shootsteel.com They have auto reset popper targets that are pretty reasonable as well as other steel targets. They give immediate feedback and are much more fun than punching paper IMO. If you are shooting .22 you can find steel targets at Walmart for cheap. Stick to AR500 steel and a distance of around 100 yards for centerfire rifle rounds though
