OK, so I will apologize up front for the lack of basic information on this one, but I'm in the EARLY stages of trying to grab a #1 in 45-70 and I cannot figure out WHAT in the crap to offer!  So looking at an excellent condition 45-70, standard blue/walnut 22 inch barrel, no scope mounted... just a baseline Ruger No 1.  That being said, prices are hard to pin down on the interwebs.  Ruger has the MSRP listed at $1400, looks like the model is going anywhere between a grand to two grand, but that's not for the ole 45-70.

So question is, what would the hive mind pay?  What would you consider a spectrum between "Armed Robbery" to "I Don't Really WANT to Pay that, but it's fair"?

Gunbroker closed auctions are all over the place.  I'd think somewhere around $1,500 for a 1s would be reasonable.

I've had one for 20 years.  It's a beautiful rifle.  I like looking at it from the muzzle almost as much as from the breach.  Huge bore!

I think $1,500 is a pretty fair offer if it's in great condition.
