I have an old Surefire Z3 Combatlight that I've have for a number of years that I'd like to (again) upgrade. It's currently wearing a Surefire KX4 head and surely there are brighter offerings available.

Herein lies the rub- I cannot find the original head to accept the drop-in.

I have a M361 in my old 6Z combatlight, and get plenty of run time from a 16650. The current version of the M361 is rated for being selectable between 30, 200, or 500 lumens coming from 3.7 to 9vdc. |

So $40 or so for an OEM Z44 plus the drop-in LED unit?

It's great for a light to leave for use in the truck, and I use a 16650 that has a built-in USB charging port, so I don't need any more than just a common USB cable and a powerport to charge it, in the truck. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/12179/image-3096184.jpg BTW Bklyn_ , a PM has been sent your way View Quote Guess I'll leave the G2 be with its KX4. No sense in chasing lumens on that one. |

Have one on an M4 carbine and one on a bedside light (G3 body). Not the brightest, but very good for dog-walking and back yard fun at night. Paladin |

View Quote A little late but I wanted to mention that the M61 runs fine on 3 CR123's. Great on 2x17500 as well. Input spec. is 3.8 to 9 volts. With the M91 you can run it from 3 CR123's and get 40 minutes or so. I'm using it in a 4 cell body so I can run 2x18650 for great run time. And it can handle 4 CR123's per Cathy. But you don't need a M91 for a 3 cell body. It's safe, but overkill and won't run in regulation down to 3.8 volts like the M61 will. Paladin |

When the last of my 123’s die, I’ll start using the 16650 batteries I bought.

Keep a set of primary CR123s in your bag as a backup. I'd say yes, and my uses are still daily, but more along the lines of turning out and supervising dogs in the dark, lighting up dark storeroom shelves, and closing up and securing a 110 year old retail shop several times a week. When I went battery shopping, I went with what Malkoff was selling on his website, as a testimonial as much as a guideline. He was selling EFest 16340s and Keeppower 16650, and 18650. They're all still chugging along just fine. From a daily use standpoint, I will attest to the reliability of the Keeppower brand 16650 2100mah batteries. I've got multiple years of use out of the set I initially bought, and I'm going to try out their USB rechargeable 3v 850mah RCR123A in my SF 3v Aviator. https://illumn.com/16340-keeppower-860mah-p1634u1-3v-rcr123a-protected-button-top-2-pack-please-read-description.html |
