Planning to do a AR-9 build with a lower collecting dust, but want to do something different.

Are there any viable AR brace/stock options similar to the collapsing brace/stock on an SP5/MP5? Would love to do that to an AR.

There's several different "pdw style" stocks available for ARs: https://www.recoilweb.com/pdw-stock-buyers-guide-126684.html

It's not included in the above article but my personal favorite is the Q Shorty stock: https://liveqordie.com/shorty-stock/

Don't forget an MP5 style handguard to go with it.

Thanks. What makes the Q your favorite?

It's very lightweight and the best looking one IMO

Agree.  The Q stock or the SB tactical HBPDW brace version is my favorite.

Does look nice, How is getting a cheek weld with it?

How do you find a cheek weld with it, comfy?

I like to shoot nose to charging handle and it's perfect for that. With most PDW stocks you're pretty much just putting your cheek on the buffer tube, with this one there is actually a cheek piece there to use.

I'm leaning either Q or SB Tactical so far. Hope I can find a used one

Have the SB PDW on the way

I have an SBPDW on the way I got for a good price, which appears to be very similar to the Maxim Defense CCS. The cool Maxim is the CQB that has a shorter than normal buffer tube, and uses a proprietary buffer and bolt carrier. Very compact. $$$

I got everything put together and so far it seems like everything will be fine. Probably end up with the longest or middle setting at the best for the PDW. Hoping to break it in this weekend.

I have one on a super short piston gun with a PWS upper.

It might not be the shortest of all the PDW setups, but I didn't want to bother with proprietary buffers and springs. A Geissele Super 42 worked just fine.

That's exactly why I went with it. Put a Strike flatwire spring in with SPikes heavy buffer. I run Super 42 in all my other ARs
