Awesome man good to see some real life comparisons,  I was especially impressed with some of the Fiocchi loads and some of the Privi loads that I have been thinking about ordering.  Thanks for your time and the $$$ you spent to inform us.

Great work Cody!  One of the best range report i've ever seen.  Great information for me because i've been considering buying a 1:8 barrel but afraid of the performance with the lighter bullets.  Thanks

Very good comparisons.  That had to have taken a lot of time.

But, I wish you would have shot some Russian steel cased like Wolf and Brown Bear.

Can't complain though.

Thanks for taking the time to post all this info and the pictures.

It's great to see how all these loads performed in your rifle.

I'm sure all of us here would love to see the results for our own rifles!

Thanks again!

Has anyone done any gellatin/Ballistic testing of this round?

First off, "THANK YOU" to the person that bought me the Team Membership. That was unexpected and very generous of you. You have inspired me to do more testing and share it here in the future.

How many rounds did you go between cleaning the bore?

I clean my rifle (bore included) every time I get home from shooting it.  Before each session I shoot about 10-12 test shots of my control ammo making sure the scope is sighted in and my groups are good.
During a session I would test around 8-12 different types of ammo , so around 170-250 rounds are shot each session.  I then shoot another 5 shot control ammo test group at the end.  My test groups before and after are usually  1 MOA or better.  My control ammo is the Performance Reloads 55gr V-max because it's what my gun shoots the best and most consistent. I organize everything the night before and make sure all my targets are labeled with the ammo I will be testing. Afterwards I immediately take pictures of all the targets. If it sounds like a lot of work it is but it's fun.

Can't complain though.

I tried shooting some Wolf 75gr steel case ammo. It won't cycle in my rifle (the cases get stuck). Of the 2 shots I did shoot they were about 6 inches apart so I didn't expect a great group. I did shoot the Wolf Gold 75gr Match  brass cased ammo as I'm sure you saw.
I have some new ammo that I'll best testing soon.

What's the difference between the XM193/black-box and XM193F brown box?

I thought the letter designation had to do with how it's packaged for sale.

For the Federal 1000-round case, the ammo is loose in a plastic bag inside the card board box. It is labeled "XM193BK; Ball M193 55 Gr. MC-BT LCAAP Rifle Cartridges" and the "BK" represents "Bulk".

I don't own a chrono so the velocities are the stated velocities, even though my 24" barrel might have been shooting them slightly faster.

Excellent work.

One thing seems to be clear, and that is that the Match Kings perform excellent in almost every loading from every manufacture.

Even the Fiocchi loading, which is significantly less expensive than Federal GM (which, BTW, I wish you would have tested.)

I'll have to try the 69gr. Fiocchi MKs.

Your testing reminds me of the same things I go through for all the .22LR rifles I have.  You are quite diligent in your testing and have found the pet load for this particular system.  I do thank you for your testing and sharing of information.

Thanks for posting. A lot of effort went into that project & to post as well.

I happened to be at my range earlier this week to test fire my latest build (16" M4 Carbine - my build).
The average of 3 separate 5-shot groups (measured outside, edge-to-edge) results were:

Ultramax 55 grain FMJ  = .9"
Wolf Poly 55 grain FMJ = 1.2"

I shot the Wolf last....two of the groups were less than .5" high....the ES was determined by the horizontal spread. I'm guessing that the "shooter" was not as good as the ammo.

My buddy at work "razzed" my poor marksmanship, but realized I used the military sliding buttstock (poor repeatability for cheekweld), didn't have a good bag setup, nor am I a bench-type shootin' guy. I'd rather shoot off-hand - more fun.
Oh, I used an inexpensive 6-18X scope.

Regards,
Hotgun

Outstanding effort. I'm impressed (but would have preferred two 10-shot groups instead of 4 5-shot groups).

Either way, outstanding effort.

62Gn FMJ seems to be a consistant under performer.

Could that be because the 62 you mostly buy is milsurp nato mass produced ammo requiring only to be what, 4" it 100yds or something like that?

Totally great stuff and thanks for hte HUGE effort on your part.

Any chance you can put all the data (without pics) in a table at the end?
A screen shot of the data in a spreadsheet would work great.
Average the group size and sort it by that.
Just an idea.
Thanks again.

That's great news and something to look forward to as we dig ourselves out of over a foot of snow here on LI. Haven't been to the outdoor range in weeks to continue my own field testing, so I am living vicariously through your reports, ha! Keep them coming. Please add PRVI 75-gr OTM to the list (yeah, I know, the same as Wolf Gold).

Wow, Your routine pretty  much mirrored what i was doing a few years back. I tried many of the same ammo you have with about the same results. I tried another 25 or so types you did not and i am kicking myself for cleaning out my filing cabinet about a year or so. I had organized all my targets from all my test shooting sessions and figuring that i hammered out what i'd be shooting, so i tossed them out. Had a lot of 7.62 also.

Thanks for posting, i built a new AR Recently and so far, it doesn't like what the other does. Your post will be agood reference!
