I just ordered some blasting ammo(only have m118lr) to try my newly acquired NX8 on the SR25 and an Aimpoint T2. The biggest problem with one of these setups is how accurate the rifle is, I feel like the sub MOA accuracy is wasted with a LPVO or red dot. Part of me wants to say weight be damned and get a 6.5-20x Mk4 or throw my wallet at a S&B but I also feel like the 1-8x ATACR might be a better option and complement to my SR15 NX8 setup.

This feels pretty nice....

Damn I gotta get mine out and rolling on cerakote, the taupe look is the best. I will agree with you on everything you just said, I feel like the MK8 isn't enough glass for these gun's when you can stretch it quite far accurately. I considered briefly going to an ATACR or MK8 but realized I liked the magnification on the MK6 3-18 more, still want to upgrade to a 4-16 ATACR though.

For reference:

Mark 8 1.1-8 = 23.4 oz
ATACR 1-8 = 21 oz
MK6 3-18 = 23.5 oz
ATACR 4-16 = 30 oz
Aimpoint T1 = 3.7 oz

ATACR would definitely be heavier with a T1 and a mount

Dude, thanks for posting all those weights. That definitely effects my decision. Banging man-sized steel out to a klick with a Mk8 is more than doable, and I also feel like I'd be able to see my round splash easier on 8x and adjust on-the-fly as opposed to being on full 16x power. It's a tough decision though...

Thank you sir! Wish I would’ve kept her but other things took priority. Those were around 1” I believe. I can’t remember the exact height off hand. Might as well throw the new one up while I’m here...

Shows up fine for me. If you're using Firefox or Chrome, there are extensions that get around the PB nonsense. Can't remember what they're called, but a little searching and you'll find it.

Yes they are.  They are not sub MOA, they are sub 1/2 MOA with match component ammo.  Lilja’s original 16” SEAL Recce forms the basis of my Recce build.  It’s not a true clone except the barrel and the KAC flash hider for the NT4 can, but the accuracy is at benchrest level.  I also like that Lilja mills a flat 180 degrees from the gas port for mounting the gas block. This is done before rifling and hand lapping the bore.  That allows for securely attaching the gas block with just concave tip set screws without having to dimple the finished barrel.  A lot of little things add up to make that level of accuracy from a barrel made to serve the combat mission of SEALs.

Scrolling through a few pages, I’m curious about the people running 1.9 mounts that have bipods attached and standard collapsible stocks....How are any of you getting any sort of sight picture shooting prone? I have a difficult time with a 1.5 mount....

Excellent question.  I have a “standard” height LT-104 (1.5”) on my Recce with a 3-9x Leupold VX-R Patrol.  At bench or prone it’s almost too high.  Works, though.

But, my load development scope is a 6-24x50 with fine target reticle and turrets.  It’s so long the front of the scope, with 4” sun shield installed, would not go over top of the folded front sight.  I had to use a 1.93” LT-135.  With that I have to use a riser on the rear stock to get any kind of decent cheek weld.  At least it’s only on there when working up precision loads and testing.

It’s an issue for sure.  I wonder what others are doing?

Hopefully I’ll know soon. I switched to the 3gr from the SM1. SM1 wasn’t very good at distance. Too easy to get lost in the subtensions.
