Revised Carbine. I don't have anything better than a bathroom scale, but I'm pretty sure this thing is under 6lbs. Shows 5 1/2lbs on the bathroom scale. Balance point is just behind the barrel nut.

Second pic shows my concept for an integrated front sight on a surefire X300 when run in the 12 o'clock position. 12 is a great position since you aren't adding anymore to the overall profile of the carbine. Plus anything your optic sees the light will illuminate. Finally this position leaves as much of the handguard free as possible. Getting farther out on the forearm allows for better recoil control and faster driving of the rifle from target to target. Front sight is like a fixed pistol sight in essence. So far it's not moved at all. It's been banged into barricades for a few weeks now.

How does the Vltor FH compare to an A2 FH?  Specifically effectiveness and noise level.

Funny you ask.  This Flash Hider isn't a flash hider at all, yet it's probably the most underrated muzzle device for the AR-15.

It's a compensator.  It's marketed as such and rated by ATF as such (Except the P90 version.)  BUT!  It's an insanely good flash suppressor.  I compared it directly to a Smith vortex in complete dark viewed from the side and the flash signature was just as small as the vortex.  Actually, besides being as small, it also seemed to give off less sparks and make more of a blueish flame.

Compensation wise, it does work. Not as great as something like the Benny Coolie, or the PRI Quiet Control Comp, but  enough to feel like the muzzle isn't climbing or twisting right.

I've asked people after I shoot a COF inside if it's loud and nobody seems to notice.  Then I mention that it's a 14.5" bbl and most thought it was a 16" bbl.

On top of this, it's capable of bringing a 14.5" bbl to being over 16", is lightweight and is made to work with the Gemtech Halo. (Which I am waiting on a form 4.)

Picture thread, so here's an SPR.

What suppressor are you running on that M&P and how is it legal in NY? Also aren't the standard capacity M&P-22 mag illegal in NY?
