Here's a couple of mine with 10 thirty rounders in them.  Don't have the 20round mags though.  And sorry about the crappy pic.

Here's my pistol range case. Usually I have a box of (100) 9mm here instead of 5.56 but all of my ammo is in cans right now! It's not much but it's custom enough to suit my needs. It's great when you can find a freebie that was being thrown out at work. I just got some foam and cut to fit. I can't wait to get one for the SIG556 Rifle & SBR.

Multiple pics to show the layers. By the way, that's a G17 on top and G26 standing up on the right.

Yes, stuff doesn't move at all, period.

My Pelican's are 100% eggcrate, I think it's underrated, and way undermarketed.  Can't find em on ebay at all.  The foam is very high density, and truly interlocks, keeping stuff completely static.  If you're thinking of that horrible joke of a case that Bushmaster so generously includes with their rifles, this is not that.   Just ordered another 1700 with eggcrate for my M4gery.  When it shows I can burn that Bushy case.

Where can I find 100% eggcrate Pelican foam for a 1720?  I want a universal case, not a $200 case for my M4 in it's current configuration that I have to recut foam when I move my VFG or swap out my optics.

Thanks

Can you be a little more descriptive? do you mean the round thing on the outside of the case? That's a pressure valve, to equalize pressure inside the case so that the case doesn't get damaged when the pressure changes.

for you guys using your AR as your patrol rifle are you using these 17xx pelican cases and throwing them in the trunk?  I don't know how it is elsewhere but there seems to be very little room for a big ol case like that.  I can understand the desire for protection, I just don't know if its practical or not.

Anyone tried the Storm cases? My company switched from PElikan to Storm on one of their tool kits and I'm impressed with the Storm case. It has a button on each latch that you depress to open and it is much easier to open and close, plus it uses a different type of foam that is easier to cut/form to shape.

Does anyone know how well a 16" AR-15 carbine with a SOPMOD stock might fit in a 1700? I'm thinking it may be tight with a flashhider like a Vortex, but I'm not really interested in getting a case that's bigger than I need.

Here's my Starlight Case with the plastic tray it came with.  The rifle didn't fit well and the 4 magazines rattled around in the cutouts at the bottom right.

And here's the after pic, with the foam I just finished cutting.  Close up you can see that the cuts are somewhat jagged and you can also see at the top right magazine where I cut through the foam accidentally.  But this holds the rifle infinitely more securely and nothing rattles around.  Functionality is way more important to me than aesthetics.

no one keeps their sling on the rifle while in the case?  I plan on keeping it in my unit and want my sling to stay on the rifle but it does mess up the foam a bit.  Anyone here keep theirs on?  How did you do it?

I never owned Pelican, but I use them at work.

I'm about to purchase a 1495NF, to use as a briefcase for my duties as Treasurer for non-profit.

It's offered in Tan & Black.

Which would you guys suggest?

Yes mine goes in the trunk.  We have crown vics, the old ones with no trunk liner, new ones with (the standard Ford liner).   Over the several years I've had the case I've carried it a few different ways in the trunk.  In the cars without the liner in fits handle up top against the back wall of the car.  That's the easiest fit.

In the cars with the trunk liner its harder.  usually I put it in the back section and the handle faces up.  The case is almost a perfect fit length wise.  It is several inches wider than the liner section and sits diagonal with the handle up.  It actually works pretty good this way.  I sometimes have to move a box of flares out of the way.

The rest of my equipment is also in Pelican cases (forms box, riot gear box, camera, first kit, evidence kit)  The riot gear box I just got is pretty big and the old two ways don't work.  Now the rifle sits on the other boxes its just barely fits in.

The ford trunks suck.

A lot of nice gear on here that I see.  This is my "panic kit", if ever I have to grab and go.  Contents include:
Sig 556: (I've heard a lot of complaints, but mine's been 100% reliable and accurate, but only time will tell) Super smooth shooting with great trigger.
HK USP 9mm: I know some don't care for them, but you can't deny the reliability, and I shoot it great, find it very comfortable, and it packs 15rds.
HK USP 9compact (if you ever need a pistol, why not 2!): same manual of arms as the fullsize, and a lot smaller, and still carries 13rds.
Surefire X200 is a great weapon mounted light.  Not the brightest, but also not very big.  Super tough and durable.
Surefire KROMA: very useful personal light, great burn time on low settings, upper settings are very bright (and both lights use the same batteries)
Buck Nighthawk: a very underrated knife; carries a great edge, blade is thick enough to perform some heavy chopping, and has durable finish.

Preferances vary, here's some of my favorites, thanks for looking.  Sorry about having to post I link, but I couldn't figure out how to directly post the pics.  Any advice?

Jesus, not only do I shoot your pistols better than you but I also have to fix your posts!
And you're my doctor! God help me.

Nice set-up bro, give me a hand with mine once I get a case.

And why the Buck?

Tigershark...too big; Gerber Mark II... too delicate; Specwar...too bulky with sheath;  Al Mar Warrior...too big (and too mint!)  And as I said, the Buck truly is an underrated knife, big performance in a medium package.
How did you do the pics?

So I'm finally getting around to setting everything into place. Still indecisive on how I wanna place a few things. Made it so I could also fit a couple of my pistols in there too. Thoughts? Angle of the pic makes it seem like theres no room at the end of the barrel, but theres a good 3/4".

(I keep all my mags separate)

any particular reason you don't carry your mags in there too? You could collapse the stock and fit the mags in it.

For those wondering about a dedicated Pmag case...
I bought a 1520, that will hold 50 Pmags (+-2)
I'll get pics when it's full.
Should be soon.
The mags are stacked 2 deep, bullets down.
Two rows of 13.

I'll put in some desiccant that I ordered as well so that takes it down to 51 or 50.

I just picked up a 1720 at a local store it came with the solid foam. I’m not very interested in cutting the foam to fit on profile seeing as I willl be using the case to transport different weapons.

Where could I find the egg carton foam? I found some stuff used for bedding but it is tan color.

Thanks in advance,
Larry O M. . .

+1 tack this. . .
