I attach here some pics of my recently aquired matech buis (brownells) compared to a old matech buis i bought from ebay some years ago (realistiche price, selleria with very good revews). The newer buis is so different i am now doubting the old one is the real deal. Main differences are the fact that the sight aperture is wider in the newer one and the screws and spring are different.

Second question: what about the KAC quadrail? Did it change during the years or it is still the same? There are differences between the civilian one and the military adopted one?

Thanks!!

What are the markings on bottom of the MaTech marked with the Picitinny gates logo?

Pretty sure they are both legit. Here a dozen or so years ago Matech started laser engraving Picatinny Arsenal's gates on them. I never saw those ones on a Gov weapon, but I retired in 2012, so maybe they came around after I was gone.

I haven't seen that CAGE marking.
(8GU83 / EQUALITY OHIO EDUCATION FUND)

I've only found the Picitinny marked on commercial guns.

The 2 CAGE markings that I've found on issued MaTechs are:

OGU83 / manufactured by Matech
3DB52
/ manufactured by Design West Technologies.

Post a pic?

Edit:

Matech example:

Exactly, 8gu83.

That said, i am not concerned about the authenticity of the picatinny marked one, I ordered it from brownells, i am concerned about the one mounted on the rifle in the pics

The only reason why I'd doubt that it was fake is because bootlegging a MaTech is like bootlegging Geo Metro.

What's the older one marked with?

No pics of said RAS so hard to guess. But yes, there were changes.

Thanks! As soon as i get home, i will check! I tried to not un'install it to avoid having to reloctite it.

Which kind of changes are you aware of about the KAC RAS in the last 10 years or so?

Why this would be the "only" reason? Does it seem fake to you?

I just figured they'd make more money from duping KACs or something but TGWLDR is right.

I couldn't tell you, I only had 2 and I don't see anything suspicious about yours but I'm far from an expert on IDing legit MaTechs. I can take some pics of mine later.

I don't recall if they fall inside the 10 year window, but interior markings and top screw type. (Hex vs slotted).

Thanks for the answers man.

I can't tell you what the markings are below the mounted matech buis cause I embarassingly lost my collection of american size hexkeys so i am unable to uninstall it rn! But i am sure it had a number underneath, what is your opinion based on the informations you have now?

Here is the KAC RAS, so is this the current production model i can find on brownells or it had some modifications?

Yes i know the ras is legit, I was just wondering if there were changes from this model to the current ones.

And so also the buis seems to be legit? Aperture size changed during the years or between the military and the civilian model?

Covered in post #13 above.

Out of 8 or 10 that I own/have owned, all aperature openings have been the same diameter,I have only owned 1 Picitinny marked version.

If it breaks when you tighten it and the sight pops up under recoil, it’s real.

There are 'fixes' for those issues.  But, easier to get a different BUIS.

One on the left looks too short to be a poptech.

OP - by any chance is the first ‘8’ actually a ‘0’ on the cage code for the Brownell’s purchased sight?

Have you removed the sight mounted on the rifle to check its cage code? Photos of the bottom of both would be helpful.
