Might as well rename this the AR SBR forum now. Hopefully law suits get filed and won.

I think I can safely say this is one of the more pistol-like AR Pistol builds looking through the picture thread.

10" .458 barrel on the Fightlite SCR pistol lower, CMT big-bore smooth-side upper, handguard only goes a bit over an inch past the gas block, and oddly the hardest thing for me was finding a sight I was happy with.

A fully shrouded pistol red dot ended up fitting perfectly flush with the front face of the upper and I'm happy with the overall look, and don't have to demount and re-zero the red dot to change the battery.

Plenty stable at 25 yards one handed with no sling, but it takes to a single-point sling easily and variations on the Harris flashlight stance or a normal two-handed handgun grip are what I usually end up using.

Awesome job!  I'd like to see that set up with some wood furniture.
Here is one I keep playing with.  DPMS 1/9 barrel, on a Bear Creek side charge upper.  Stribog sights, I drilled out the rear aperature. 3 1/2" buffer tube.
Works well at 50 yards using the sling.

Aero Precision lower.
Lantac upper.
Midwest Industries iron sights with Meprolight tritium rear aperture and truglo tritium front sight post.
DFA buffer system.
Hughes Ballistics titanium bcg cut down by DFA.
WMD bolt.
Fortis Handguard.
Faxon .458 SOCOM barrel.
Griffin minimalist taper mount muzzle brake.
2A Armament gas block.
V Seven titanium barrel nut.
Titanium safety, titanium mag release.
BAD bolt catch.
Geissele G2S trigger.

70.44 oz.   or 4.4 lbs.  Built as a defense gun for back country defense gun for grizzly / moose.  I aimed for a weight comparable to a high powered pistol with similar ballistics (.460 S&W, .50AE, .45-70 gov't).

She's like shooting a 20 gauge in a pistol form.  I add a Griffin blast shield to easy my ears on the range.

I'd love to get a wooden grip at least, I do love that wooden upper/foreend you've got, which one's that if you don't mind me asking?

And yeah I pondered getting the Stribog sights, would have had to switch out the free float if I did I think to have a reasonable sight distance, so went with a red dot for a little bit more for now.

I might re-visit it with a proper handguard to get a full-length top rail and go with some Stribogs myself though.

Straight-pull 300 BLK pistol with a 1-6x24 Burris.
Forgive the taxi-driver beads.  They do work, though.

@Hellion-Productions I tried to send an instant message but it looks like the Instant Messenger is broken. What's the wait on an order from solo300? Is that compatible with any barrel with a plugged gas port?
Link Posted: 11/5/2023 1:53:35 AM EDT
[#25]
Yes, any barrel can be used.  You just have to flip the gas block or make a slipover section of tubing that covers the gas port (I tapped mine and kept itmin place with a set screw).

The receiver is not typical, so it won't fit a LaRue free-float rail, so be aware of that issue.

I did get your IM.  Contact Solo 300 on Instagram.  They usually hang there.  They used to be active on the larger 300 BLK Facebook groups, too.

Best,
JBR

Curious with the rationale behind going with a straight pull?

Is it :

1 Gets you favorable conditions with the law somehow?

2 keeps a closed bolt longer for more quietness?

3 accuracy?

Either way nice looking piece and I love the bolt handle.

For me, it's maximum sound reduction when shooting subsonic.

I had a bolt action 300blk rem700 and it was super quiet but i didn't need 16" barrel or all the extra weight. So i started looking into short barrel bolt actions, or building one, and at the time the were no options other than cutting something down, which gets pricey with bolt guns.

I decided it was better anyway to just use an ar because i could build it how i wanted without too much trouble and keep an the same ergos and accessories.

I tried just installing a gas block upside down to not let it cycle, but there was still gas escaping, which made it louder than the bolt gun.

So i was going to buy a carbine gas 300blk barrel to have cut down and then i saw the Solo 300 project and it was everything i wanted, including a chopped down bcg so i could fold the stock.

And it's everything i hoped it would be.

Truck gun... PSA M4 Carbine Lower, PSA premium 10.5" upper, mixture of CMMG with a couple Geissele internal parts thrown in for good measure, KAK Industries original Shockwave Blade brace on a KAK 7075 buffer tube, Colt side sling swivel and a Magpul sling, Olight Odin light on a Kerm-Lock QD mount, now with aSurefire G2X Tactical light.  Mil-Spec carry handle rear sight so no optic to worry about getting knocked out of alignment or battery dying.

Not sure anymore as it's been a minute, but it's an arfcommer with "red" in his name.  IIRC, I found his info in the PSA $260 AR pistol thread which has long ago went to the archives.

Budget AR
7.62x39 10.5" Bear Creek Arsenal upper, Superlative Arms  adjustable gas block, Palmetto lower, Magpul brace.
F1 can and Vortex red/green dot.
I took it out this past weekend, it's super quiet.
I still need to get a Vickers Tactical sling for it.
My wife is getting me an ALG ACT Trigger for Christmas.

So far it has been 100%

Mine (Red_McCloud made) is also 3D printed.  Red sold them with the adjustment lever but not the hardware.  I bought hardware off Amazon but it was a Tapco product that has been discontinued.  I know some of the guys bought cheap stocks and cannibalized them for the hardware.
